8 Mile ST any good?

Just curious. I typically hate rap, but this looks somewhat promising.

I wouldn't know. I can't get past Track 1, 'Lose Yourself', which is just too damn good, almost good enough to justify whatever else is on there. Maybe I'll try to listen to the whole thing when I get home from work tonight.

About all I've heard is that the beats on the tracks by everyone but Eminem are doo doo.

I have it (you can find it if you know where to look) and its nothing special. The Em track is good, but the other ones are pretty weak.

It is scary how much we are the same. We both liked The Wire and I cannot get past the first track myself. I am just happy to see Gang Star on the cd.

In my opinion, the other Eminem songs are pretty good. He has 3 solo tracks on there, and i think he's on two others (D-12 and the Obie Trice track). It's basically an Eminem and Friends CD. It has Obie Trice and 50-Cent and D12. The 2nd track has some funny lyrics, they take some shots at a bunch of Rappers (R Kelly, D-Angelo, a few others)

It's a decent CD and I'm really not the biggest rap fan.

I ordered it but the foo fighters turned up instead. If you think it's no good I'll just get my money back.

I have been listening to it for quite a while and the three Eminem tracks are good with Lose Yourself being the best.

It depends if you like rap a lot and listen to that click that runs around with Em (ie. 50 Cent, D12, Obie Trice).

The Nas song is decent but the Jay-Z & Freeway track is probably the weakest on the album.

It's only $9.99 at a lot of big chains the week of Oct. 29 so pick it up if you like Eminem.

Yep, i think you summed it up to say the least. Of course i cannot stand the NAS song, i just can't stand his rapping in general though....just my thoughts(it's probably like his other stuff, i don't really care to know)

Jay-Z track sounds like a promotion for his next album....just horrible lyrics to this track.

Macy Gray seems kinda odd on this CD too, just out of place.

The other tracks were decent too (that were not already mentioned)

Longfellow, how can you not stand Nas? To me he's the best in the game right now by far. Who do you like? As for 8 Mile, if you're a fan of rap it's definately a good purchase. Eminem's songs are some of his best since the Slim Shady LP, and the rest of the album that I've heard ranges from solid-excellent.

I'm gonna pick it up, but just for Eminem's songs. Eminem is the only rap I can stand.

Picked it up for cheap, so I couldn't pass on it, but I do like Rabbit Run and Lose Yourself. On a quick run through though, those were the only tracks that caught my attention.

Yeah, Lose Yourself plays over the new spots and trailers, Cleaning Out My Closet played over the first trailer.

To me he's the best in the game right now by far.

If by he you mean Eminem, then you are correct.

I guess his raps just seem slow and boring to me. Half the time i think he doesn't even hear the beat behind him. It just sounds like he is talking....The MTV awards where he perfomed was horrible. "This is my hood, i'll rap in it (or whatever the hell he said)" Sorry, i don't mean to rant or rave...i know everyone has different opinions.
Honestly, i'm not the biggest RAP fan anyways. I prefer old school stuff to newer stuff. I mean you may castrate me because i think Sir-Mix-A-Lot is still great.

Basically, i'm more into the techno side of music with second choice being rock stuff. I just listen to everything though.

My opinion, not yours.

I'm not a fan of Eminem or rap by any means, but "Lose Yourself" is pretty damn catchy.

I do like the cd, alot of it is very good.

You have to love 50 Cent, Eminem and Nas on the same cd.

Macy Gray is odd on there.... but oh well.

Good cd... PIck it up if you like Eminem!

Yeah, his MTV performance was horrible because he's simply not a good performer. For some people adrenaline is a good thing, for others, it's not. I can see why you don't like him, either you think he's boring or he's one of the best, there really isn't much of a middle ground with Nas.

Em's one of my favorites, but I don't think he's as good right now, or has ever been as good as Nas. His 3 songs for 8 Mile are like I said, some of his best since the Slim Shady LP for a reason that's not noticeable at first, but glaring when you think about it. Around the time he made the SSLP, he was a hungry, poor, unproven rapper looking to blow up. Fast forward to now, and the songs for 8 Mile are written in the perspective of his character. What is his character? A hungry, poor, unproven rapper looking to blow up. I still think he's tremendously talented, but too inconsistent. He hasn't brought the same hungriness as he did at the start of his career. I'll take almost any Nas album over all of Eminem's albums, even though Eminem is still one of my favorites.

It's not like they're holding hands and singing together on the album.
