Today's CDs 10/28

Sorry to steal your post, Yancey, but I couldn't wait!!

Today, I got the new Sigur Ros cd to review!!!!! So far, I've only listened to the first 4 tracks, but they are all incredible. I also reserved my name on the upcoming Godspeed You Black Emperor! album (due out Nov. 4). For being a miserable, rainy, cold day - mine is certainly going well!

Any cds that people are planning to buy today?

Two concerts are coming to my college (MWC) this week: Wednesday is The Lot Six and Saturday is Rilo Kiley. I plan on buying as many Lot Six cds as I can (as they are hard to find), and I'll decide if I want any Rilo Kiley cds based on their show (I'm just excited that a Saddle-Creek band is coming here to play).

The Lot 6 have one amazing song that's on their first EP, "This Is Coincidence."

Today's CDs (and this isn't my thread, fallow. It's been around for over a year, I've just started the last couple):

This Heat -- Peel Sessions
Michael Mayer -- Immer
Metro Area -- Metro Area

I went to see Los Lobos this weekend at the Stratosphere Outdoor Events Center. First, I've got to question the wisdom of scheduling an outdoor show in late October. It was only about 40 degrees outside, and it was cold. Second, they put on a great show as always, but the crowd was at least 10-15 years older on average than at any other Los Lobos show I've ever seen. No one danced. No one stood up. People just clapped politely after every song. I got bored. Luckily, I've got 2 String Cheese Incident shows and one Pork Tornado show this week to liven things up...

I'm in class until 9 tonight, so I only listened to one disc this morning:

John Wesley Harding - Swings and Roundabouts

(Great disc - I'll probably listen to it on the way home, too)

As for purchases, I don't think I'll pick up anything today. I'd like to get the new Sixpence None the Richer disc, but I can wait. Considering that I'm going to Vegas on Wednesday, I'd better save my money so I can lose it all.

I just reviewed this cd last week. It was actually pretty cool; not really what I expected (I didnt know what to expect), but I think it was a guilty pleasure or something. Usually, I don't listen to that kind of thing.

I've been listening to the Foos ONE BY ONE nonstop for a week...but today (yes, monday) I picked up the 8 Mile Soundtrack, which is pretty decent and the new Christina Aguilera record, which is much better than I had expected...

I'll give these a spin for a bit, then i'll listen to FOO again...that album is by far one of the best of the year...hands down...

also gonna grab the Nirvana disc tomorrow...wish You KNow You're Right was released as a cdsingle instead, but what can you do...

Q and Not U - "Different Damage"
Silkworm - "Libertine"

I've been studying for midterms the last few days, so music listening has been greatly reduced.

I didn't know what to expect from it either, but I was really impressed. Definitely a guilty pleasure.

I love the Bluetones. However every time I have gone to a UK Music Festival where they are on the bill, I somehow seem to miss them.

Today's CDs:
Imperial Teen - Live

Been playing to death the new Badly Drawn Boy single: "You Were Right" - can't wait for the full length album!

Weekly 'UK' internet order:
British Sea Power - Fear of Drowning
Ed Harcourt - Still I Dream
City Rockers - Futurism 2
Who Da Funk - Shiny Disco Balls
X-Press 2 - I Want You Back
Manic Street Preachers - Forever Delayed
Feeder new album

Giles, Is that coming out in the next month? I thought I read something about it, but I couldn't remember. Excellent!
