New Depeche Mode DVD out soon

Depeche Mode fans probably already know this, but for those who don't, there will be a Special Edition of their Videos 86>98 DVD out in a few weeks. Includes more videos and all EPK's for the albums "Violator", "SOFAD" and "Ultra", a short film (the same?) and more. The following was the update on DVDFile.com:

Proving that it isn't just movies these days that can get re-released a zillion times on DVD, Depeche Mode will be offering fans a new two-disc reissue of The Videos 86-98 on November 19th. Featuring all the tracks on the previous single-disc release, this one includes six bonus videos, all the EPKs for the bands studio albums Violator, Ultra and Songs of Faith + Devotion, a short film, and more. Retail is $24.95.

Actually, since you brought it up, I heard from a very good source (who used to work for Mute and has ties to DM's camp) that there is talk about the band meeting after the first of the year to discuss and possibly record the next album. Apparently, Martin Gore is on a song writing roll. And all are anxious to start on another album. Including Dave, who might put touring for his solo album off to record another album with Depeche Mode. Martin's solo album is almost done too so we'll have DM side projects to hold us over in the meantime. Don't know about you, but I'm very excited (no pun) about all of the above.

Sweetness! I hadn't heard that Gahan or Gore were recording solo albums. I'm thrilled to learn of this! Gore's "Conterfeit EP" was great. Two more purchases I'll be more than happy to make.

The only thing that really irks me with this re-release is the decision to exclude the Exciter videos. Granted, the DVD is "The Videos 86 > 98", but surely they could have included the 4 Exciter videos on the extras disc?

Suffice it to say, I'll be buying this again. Sigh.

Also, I've heard from a source who apparently overheard Andy talking about a studio release next year. He also made reference to a remix CD (possibly 2xCD) and a live compilation.

Of course, this is all hearsay... but I think next year DM fans will be in for a treat.
