[There they go again]

I'd say that the new one is well-named!

Cheap Whitesnake Greatest Hits from 1994

You failed to list their best album, "Trouble", from 1978.

I voted for Slide It In, but Come An' Get It and Saints & Sinners are both great albums.

Come An' Get It features what is probably my favorite Whitesnake song, "Hit An' Run." GREAT song.

That new collection looks pretty good. Of course, having all of the Whitesnake CD's I don't need it...

I voted for Slide it In.

That is a great compilation. I would be sold if by some miracle they put the original version of Fool For Your Loving (with Ian Paice) on it instead of the later remake.

Probably not news to most reading this but, after Purple and before forming Whitesnake "proper", Coverdale worked with guitarist Mick Moody and various others to come up with two (Roger Glover-produced) "solo" albums:

I tried to list them all but I don't have that one because I can't find it. I have the ones listed + their first Live & Gr. Hits CD. I thought I done pretty good.

I first heard of Whitesnake when Still Of the Night was released. Back in the day when the industry wasn't so business oriented.

I think Whitesnake is a good disc, but I like Slip Of the Tongue a little more. I think it was Vai that did it.

Also, I don't need to buy any of these discs since I already made my own greatest hits collection.

BTW...a couple weeks ago I d/l [what I assume] is an import. It's an unplugged disc called "Starkers In Tokyo". It's just Dave & Adrian. It's pretty good. Kinda short, but good.

Suffice to say I think this hits package could have been done on one disc. And if you own the 1987 Whitesnake cd, you pretty much have all that you need.

Not even close.

Most of their best material came before the 1987 album. Back when Whitesnake was a down and dirty blues based hard rock band! The 1987 album and Slip Of The Tongue were both good, but lacked that "feel" that the earlier albums had. Most of the pre-Slide It In albums were uneven in quality, but all had some fantastic material as well.

Like I said, "Hit An' Run" is one of their best songs ever, and it came out in 1981! (From Come An' Get It.) I can't believe that they left that one off of this new collection...

Got to agree - there are way too many fans that think Whitesnake started in the late '80s. Although I like a few songs from the then on, Whitesnake was an awesome band before that.

Hey! I resemble that statement. For the record...I did give the early stuff a try but I wasn't feeling it.

Gotta admit though, the same thing annoys me with groups that I really like.

Rogue, did you ever give Come An' Get It or Saints & Sinners a try? Good stuff...

(I'm assuming you've got Slide It In... )

By the time "Whitesnake" hit the charts big, I had already been listening to them for about 7 or 8 years. I even saw them on tour with Judas Priest and Iron Maiden back in '81. I thought "Slide It In" was their last really good album, but the following hit albums all had some good stuff. "Slip of the Tongue" had a few excellent songs that reminded you of their glory days. But you still can't beat that late '70s to early '80s balls-out bluesy Whitesnake.
