Queen announce their next DVD Audio release!

After the award winning DVD-A release of "A Night at the Opera", Queen are now looking towards their next major release for the format.

Taken from Queen's official web site, www.queenonline.com

"Queen and Brian May engineer Justin Shirley-Smith will be commencing work on a new DTS audio 5.1 surround version of "The Game" on 21st October for release next year as a DVDA."

Personally, I would not have selected "The Game" or any post 70's albums for DVD-A for a while. Albums like "Queen II" or "A Day at the Races" are far better choices for 5.1 mixes but alas, I'm not the decision maker. Clearly Queen are releasing "The Game" not because of it's sonic quality (it is rather flat sounding) but because the album was one of their biggest hits (especially in America.)

"The Game"
1- Play the Game
2- Dragon Attack
3- Another One Bites the Dust
4- Need Your Loving Tonight
5- Crazy Little Thing Called Love
6- Rock It (Prime Jive)
7- Don't Try Suicide
8- Sail Away Sweet Sister
9- Coming Soon
10- Save Me

I personally think this is a great choice myself.

Dragon Attack, Another One Bites the Dust, Need Your Loving Tonight, Rock It, & Coming Soon will all sound awesome in 5.1!

I have yet to pick up the Night at the Opera disc but plan to soon. I just got DVD-Audio capability in the last 2 weeks.

I would love to see Hot Space & A Kind of Magic released in this format as well as there are many songs on each that would be exceelent in 5.1 if remastered correctly. Can you imagine Staying Power, Dancer & Put Out the Fire and how great they could sound! I personally would like to see the whole catalog done but Queen I & Queen II... I can wait for. Jazz, News of the World, A Day at the Races & Sheer Heart Attack would be good ones to go with as well as Hot Space would probably only sell 5 copies.
