Would an Elivs album sell today?

Okay, this is in reaciton to the lack of sells on albums from established legends like Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and maybe Peter Gabriel. Seems all anyone wants anymore is either pseudo-country or bubble pop.

Let's say Elvis were to turn up and be alive and well. He decides to release an album with a lot of music in the style of his old school ways. Would it sell or would the majority of consumers turn their back on "The King"?

I got his 30 #1 hits album today and realize just how great he was with his music. He could rock! Sadly, I doubt enough people my age (mid to late 20s) realize this fact.

I was listening to the "A Little Less Conversation" remix, which is a lot of fun, and wondering the same thing. I think if he'd lived and gotten his act together, he might've ended up a Johnny Cash kinda badass -- the grizzled elder who's lived hard and takes no s••t. He probably would've gone back to the basics with his music, I imagine, recording lots of old country and gospel type tunes, maybe even some bluegrass. Either that, or he would've ended up a Michael Jackson-esque carnival freak living in a tent somewhere and making music that sounds like Jim Nabors on crack. No way of knowing, I guess.

Wasn't an Elvis CD/album on the charts in the UK around the time of the anniversary of his death?
