I'm pretty sure the album version is just Moby.
I bought "Play" right around the time South Side was released and Virgin repackaged it as a 2 disc set. 1 disc was Play, the other was a CD Single with Gwen.
Of course, Virgin could've changed it now...

The two versions do not sound nearly identical to me. They don't sound identical at all.
Regarding the video, it isn't on the Play DVD. They weren't allowed to put it on there for some reason that he didn't elaborate on.

IIRC, Gwen was originally on the song but they took her off for some reason...
But you guys are right...they don't sound alike.

I do not recall there being any female vocal on the track on "Play."
I remember reading that Moby actually had Gwen record vocals for 'South Side' to be put on the album, but he ended up not liking them and just didn't have enough time to get together another recording session with her before the CD was released.

The two versions defintely sound different and not just because of the unecessary addition of Gwen's vocals. For some reason the album version sounds just a tad bit slower.
But that could just be me.
