Axl Rose comments on Slash & other GNR alumni
"Slash has lied about nearly everything and anything to nearly everyone and anyone. It's who he is. It's what he does. Duff's support for the man though understandable in one sense in regard to his circumstances, is inexcusable, and furthers my distance from the two of them. For me Matt doesn't figure into the equation and for as much as I was a friend to him he was incapable of reciprocating and life is much better without such an obvious albatross. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking anything away from the alumni in regard to their prior performances on record or touring to support the albums. I know how I was treated and more importantly I know how they treated others during both of these things, it's not a way anyone should be forced or even asked to work. And for the record I'm referring to Slash and Matt in regards to their actions and behavior, Duff played more of a supporting role (for reasons I've never understood). For the fans to attempt to condemn me to relationships even only professional with any of these men is a prison sentence and something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I'd say my parole is nearly over. I'm practically a free man and if you don't like it you'll have plenty of time to get used to the idea."

What the hell is he talking about anyway? I've heard other bands go thru MUCH worse and they were able to bury the hatchet. AXL is big ego dick. Its a shame because GNR was at one time my absolute favorite band. Until that orininal lineup gets back together I for one would never buy any kind of GNR that doesnt have the real GNR behind it.

From September's Classic Rock magazine [uk]....
....meanwhile ex-bassist Duff McKagan has to confirmed to Classic Rock that he and fellow ex-Guns members Slash (guitar) and Matt Sorum (drums) are working on a new project, and that it's serious. Speaking from the Los Angeles apartment that he has retained specifically for the purpose of being on-site for rehearsals, a very relaxed McKagan told us: "It's the priority right now."
It now seems likely that both Slash's nascent solo career, for which he has recently disbanded Snakepit, and McKagan's Loaded project will take a back seat. The trio's as yet unnamed project has already found a big-name manager in LA-based Pete Angelus; noted for his partnership with David Lee Roth (the pair became known as the Picasso Brothers), and then for his stewardship of the Black Crowes.
The next step is to find a singer with what McKagan calls "big enough shoes" to front for them.... McKagan says "He's hoing to have to be able to ride out the comparisons. He'll have to make it his own. We don't know him yet, but we will. We're going to spend the summer finding someone."
.... Duff confirmed that things had come together as the began to write new songs: "It's hard and fast" he said of the new material. "We know what we can't detune and that stuff. We have ti be who we are, and what we were in Guns N' Roses. It doesn't sound like Guns N' Roses, but nonetheless we're not going to pretend that we weren't there."

I think that those three will be better than axl by himself, but niether of them will be all that hot.
GnR were awesome at one point, but even if they got back together i don't think they'd make great music again.

By the time he makes his big comeback his core fans will be too old and gray to care. He can sing "Welcome To The Rest Home" and then follow up with "Sweet Grandma O' Mine", then he can do "Shuffleboard City".

I guess I'm the only one anxiously awaiting Chinese Democracy then. I'm not holding my breath or anything, but I really want it to come out soon.
He says in that interview that the songs have been picked, the order is selected, album art selected...what the hell else are they gonna do? Release the album already Axl!!

Axl Rose is one of the "artists" that is such an A-hole that I hope he never has any more success. Better that someone a little more humble and gracious should have it instead.

POWERBOMB I, too, thought "Hagar": if they wanted to save money they could use Billy Squier!
I suppose it depends on the kind of overall sound they are after.
Glenn Hughes is another one of those rocknroll voices but he may not be to their taste image and nationality-wise.

Say what you will about Axl (I think the album and tour will flop), but he was the last great "rock star" that there has been. This is the second time in as many years Spin has put him on the cover. They also put David Lee Roth on the cover last year. They just don't make rock stars like they used to!

If you've heard anything from Chinese Democracy thus far, I think you'll agree with this
It would have been one hell of a way to bow out of the limelight in 1995, but in 2002, it just doesn't fly.
However, bad G N' R is still better than all this creed crapola that's out there.

Only Chinese Democracy-era song I've heard was "Oh My God" form the End of Days soundtrack. I wasn't blown away like I wanted to be. I really should pick up a bootleg of GNR at Rock N Rio last year...

Yeah, he ate coque at the VMA's. The band was sweet, Axl couldn't sing his own stuff. Unless he was sick or something...it sounded like a teenager with his voice changing doing a bad impression of axl

just caught a clip from MTV.com, he was winded, couldn't sing, looked like he didn't know the words to Welcome to the Jungle at times, etc etc etc. Not good, but it made me laugh.

Is Buckethead in the 'NEW' GnR ?
Or was this just for the award show?
I heard they played RIO this year but did not see any of it.
If so,He should get out QUICK!!!!!!!
Buckethead is an awsome guitar player and this new GnR wont make it.
I hate to say this even though we need REAL rock music back,AXL just didnt seem to sound like the old AXL.
He even looked younger to me.Is he off drugs and booze or something giving him this younger look?
If anything, they will do ok due to the fans of REAL rock and GnR.
Maybe the studio stuff sounds better???
