Jason Loewenstein: The Lennon of Sebadoh
Has anyone picked up his solo album, 'At sixes and sevens'? It's a fantastic album. Every song evokes his best work on Bakesale, Harmacy, and The Sebadoh.
He played every instrument, and engineered it as well.
Definitely something to check out if you like any of the harder-edged sebadoh stuff. Most likely, it was written by him.

I don't know, I always found myself more drawn to Barlow's contributions to Sebadoh. Some of Lowenstein's work on Bakesale seemed really out of place to me, but on Harmacy (my fave Sebadoh CD) the mix seemed to work better. Might check out the solo album sometime though... What's Barlow doing these days?

I gotta agree with Sierra. I liked Barlow's stuff better as well (for the most part anyway). Regarding the "Lennon of Sebadoh" comment, I don't see it. One of my problems with Sebadoh was that Lowenstein's and Barlow's styles didn't really complement each other all that well. Both wrote good songs, but it didn't sound at all like the same band, which gives some of their discs a real disjointed feeling. (Once again, though, I do agree with Sierra...Harmacy, while not the best Sebadoh album, was their most cohesive in my opinion.)
Heard that Lowenstein's solo disc takes a while to get into, but it's worth the trouble. Haven't got around to picking it up yet...

I enjoy the album. It's not epic but I give it *** out of ****. I do agree that the album is pretty even with good song writing but I am also one of those who prefered Barlow though but did like both, though, otherwise I wouldn't have bought the solo effort.
