Opinions on Nelly (the rapper, not the Loch Ness monster)

I think his music is retarded and he gives a worse name to rappers themselves (which is pretty hard to do). What do you think?

Don't like at all, give me real hip-hop, not ghetto rap.

I can't stand Nelly. His beats are nothing special and his lyrics aren't good either

I hate pop rap in general but he has a really annoying voice. On the crap scale he is in between Puff Daddy (screw calling him by his new name) and Ja Rule with PD being the worse side of the scale.

I hate rap in general but there are a ton of losers that I hate more than Nelly. To name a few:

M&M
Masta Pee
Puff Combs
JayZ
The Notorious D.E.A.D.
etc...etc...

I fondly recall the Super Bowl halftime show where he performed with a bunch of major stars (many of whom sucked themselves), and he was the only one that had a little pop-up telling the audience who he was.

I don't think it's cool he called Notorius B.I.G. the Notorious D.E.A.D. Sure, I'll admit to not liking his music but saying things like that is just immature. If someone who hated Kurt Cobain started cracking jokes like that I wouldn't find it so funny. If you don't like it, explain why, but don't so it in a distasteful manner.

Out of that list, I would say that Big had quite a bit of talent, and I find Jay-Z tolerable. Em had a couple good ones, but the rest of that list is pure crapola.

I just think the whole uber-thug thing is played. Nelly, Cam'ron, Ja Rule, blah blah blah. The same ideas are just being recycled over and over again by different rappers and then we get to watch as they turn into name-calling schoolgirls on the playground when someone comments about another. People can talk all they want about the deep political struggle being outlined in contemporary rap, but it's all BS posing.

And what's with Nelly's lame facial Band-Aid?

The story is that he got cut on his face or something, and never took it off because he wanted to make a fashion statement. I've seen a couple retards sporting this "look" on BET's 106 and Park and it's really sad to see. A freaking band-aid for Pete's sake! I cringe at the thought of it.

put a bandaid over his mouth

I didnt mind nelly untill he came out with a video with Nsync. I dont know if i spelled nsync right because i have never typed anything about thier gay band before. The sad thing about Nelly is that he is not keeping it real. He is selling out. He is basically a boy band just rapping. He is catering to what mtv and the gay radio stations want to hear. NOT the Streets. The bandaid thing is also retarded. I hope that he makes enough money to retire so that we will not have to hear his crap anymore.

To the person that was calling all the rappers names. Why go to a thread that talks about rap when you hate rap music. I agree that it was rude.

I like Nelly cause he is fun to watch and listen to.

That song Hot in Herre, for example. Just a great song to sing to or dance to at a club.

You guys are taking music too seriously, sometimes. Music is just like a movie. If you go in with low expectations, it's gonna be alright. If you get a big head about something, half of the time you will be let down.

He makes dance music basically and a lot of people are buying it. Gets played in the clubs and I don't have a problem with it.

If he didn't have a top-selling album then nobody would give a bleep.
