MGS2 question (spoiler?)

I finally finished the game the other day but the final conversation between Jack and Rose and the closing credits were totally soundless. Then sound came back for one final diatribe from Snake. Did I mess something up? Why would that happen? I didn't get to hear the MGS2 theme song! What's up with that?

Now I can finally play MGS1 in earnestness.

You have it set on Dolby Digital when you don't actually have Dolby Digital. Or you don't have it turned on in your PS2.

I do have a dolby digital 5.1 stereo. Where would I turn it on in the game? Can i get back there without replaying the game? I guess I could just beat the last part again.

I'm just curious. The plot/dialog is far from compelling.

Here's some questions:

1. Do you have an optical cable connected from your receiver to the PS2?

2. Have you gone into the PS2 options (just turn on the PS2 and go into options) and turned on DD5.1? It is an option, if I had my PS2 in front of me I would tell you directly where it is.

3. At the very beginning did you hear any sound as Snake is going through the rain? That was also in DD5.1

Isn't there also a DD5.1 setting in the game too? Maybe that got switched?

There may be...it's been a while since I played it. I beat it in November or December.

You know what, I think I'm just using an RCA cable out to the stereo since my DVD player is using the optical connection. That's probably why. Grrrr...
