BBV 3 for 2 sale

For anyone who hasn't been in the dvd bargains forum, Blockbuster's doing a buy 2 get 1 free previously viewed/played sale. It's good towards movies & games (from the wording I think you can even mix games and dvds as long as you pay for the 2 highest priced items). Wondering if anyone's found any decent deals on games, specifically PS2 or GC. I went to 3 blockbusters last night and all I saw was a lot of crap. Curious if anyone's had any luck, especially if you're in the Indy area.

Well out here in So. Cal I got Devil May Cry, Twisted Metal Black and Okage for $40, they also had Max Payne, Jak and Daxter each for $30 but I didn't want those at that price. Another store had Dark Cloud marked at $19.99, but rang up at $14.99.

I should check them fot Star Trek TNG seasons...I'm thinking it'll be like the Godfather and you buy one disc at a time (if they're for sale PV). So maybe a good deal to be had...

How long is this deal running to? I caught the last one a little late. BTW, did anyone notice any Gamecube or Xbox games? How about any worthwhile PSOne or GBA games?

I think it all depends which BBV you go to. At one store, they had one XBox game (Munch's Oddysee) and about 3 Gamecube games (NBA Street, Pikmin and one other) and about 4 PS2 games. Another store had 1 XBox game (NBA 2K2, I think) and about 7 GCN games, but about 15 PS2 games (mostly Jedi Starfighter). Hopefully more X-Box games will show up as I need some new ones

For GC, I've seen Pikmin, Rogue Leader, & NBA 2K2 pretty consistently for $24.99. For PSOne, the only thing I've seen of any worth is most of the stores around here have Syphon Filter 3. I remember seeing the Castlevania GBA game, but that's about it. As I only have PS2 & Gamecube out of this round of consoles, I didn't really pay attn. to Xbox or GBA.

Yeah, the XBox selection was pretty paltry here...just Halo and Genma Onimusha. They did have a pretty decent PS2 selection at the local BB, and I picked up Tony Hawk 3, Twisted Metal Black, and Summoner for my roommate's birthday for $30.

The store I work at has almost no slection. We have like 50 ps2 games, but about 20 are State of Emergency and another 10 Salt Lake. I really racked up at our last sale: I got NBA 2K2, NFL 2K2, Devil May Cry, ICO, Jak & Daxter, Onimusha Warlords, NHL Hitz 20-02, Red Faction, and Maximo for about $115, that sale was back around Christmas so most of these games were pretty new.

I'm really hoping we see some Medal of Honor: Frontline on shelves before this promo's over. Any BBV employees have any insider info on when they'll start getting pulled?

I doubt we will have any pulled before July 8th when the sale ends. My store has close to 50 copies of this game since it was gauranteed to be in stock, and we give out rainchecks for it all the time. We generally do our pulls on Monday, just ask your local BBV clerk when they do their pulls and they should gladly tell you.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. Also, I'm an idiot. I completely forget about BBV's guarantee everytime I'm there. I keep looking for MOH:Frontline, seeing it's all out, and then forgetting to get the free rental raincheck. Something else to do tonight I suppose.

The Blockbuster closest to my house is not participating in this promotion. They also didn't participate in the last 25% promotion either! I'm going by the one near work and see what they have, but they are slightly higher priced.

Has anyone noticed that BB doesn't really support GBA? I have found only one store around me that even has a significant amount of them for rent (and therefore sells them used). I shoulda nabbed that PAC-MAN collection last time when it was $9.99. :grr:

I've checked 5 blockbusters in my area (VA)
(3 in Centreville, 2 in Herndon)
all 5 of them had N64 games, 1 had 3 ps2 games (half-life, driven, and the first jermey mcgrath game)

crap!

I went to my local stores and didn't find two games that interested me. I DID pick up Maximo: Ghosts to Glory for $9.99 though, so it wasn't a waste of time.

Conclusion regarding handheld games

After visiting several Blockbusters during this sale, I have come to the conclusion that they are all eliminating their handheld rental cartridges. The few stores that even had any titles were trying to get rid of them and all accessories (e.g. Gameshark, etc).

Oh well - I guess I'll have to get my fix elsewhere.

Since they have starting putting the PPV games for sale in those Blockbuster cases instead of the original game cases I refuse to buy them anymore. Its too difficult to find replacement PS2, Game Cube, and Xbox cases.
