Demo XBox at Target

This may somewhat of a dumb post, and the mod. can shut it down if he or she desires, but I was just wondering if anybody else has noticed that the demo xbox as a part of Target's Video Game Center never works at any of their locations. The targets in Coon Rapids,Roseville,Blaine,Fridley, and downtown st paul,MN never have it up and running. I was wondering if anybody else experienced this at all.

Some stores will turn displays like this off at certain times working or not in order to keep that area clear for foot traffic. Some stores are just ghetto and customers treat demo stuff like crap. I don't use demos in Target or Wal Mart, but I've seen them working. If I ran a Target and I noticed that the same skater kids were always at my store smelling up the video game area and playing the Xbox demo all day long, I'd shut the thing off and say it's out of order too. Anyway - what's it matter? There are plenty of places (best buy, circuit city, gamestop, etc...) that have demos that work - plus, you can rent one from Blockbuster if you want to play one without buying one. Are you worried that all the Xboxs are made poorly and will therefore break when used? My Xbox seems pretty sturdy and I haven't had a problem with it yet. There's 2-4 people living here at any given time and they all play Xbox once in awhile... I know it's not as much as one would be played in a store, but it's still usage and the unit still works.

I own an xbox, and seem pretty confident in it, i mean it hasnt had any problems yet, and i love the games for it(halo, nhl hitz, max payne) I just found it weird that so many targets in my area didnt have it up and running. and yes, sadly, the 3 times i was at target(once to look at the xbox,a normal trip, and finally to buy the xbox) i noticed the same grubby kid playin the damn demo games. Thats quite sad.

The Xbox at my target and walmart NEVER work.. However it is always working at Best Buy and nicer stores like that.

At the Walmart and other crappy stores, I usually notice that its frozen, its not on, or they havent put a game disc in, so would-be customers can play with the Memory, Music and Settings menus. FUn times.

You're going to the wrong Targets. The ones in North St. Paul, Woodbury, Forest Lake, Vadnais Heights, Shoreview, Minnetonka and Buffalo have had working X-Boxs when I have been to each and every store (I just did a wide range of locations, mostly on the east and north side though).

Well, I don't question if the xbox is made well anymore. I was putting my xbox away on the top shelf of my entertainment center about a week ago. It was late and I was tired and you could imagine....boom! I dropped it about 5 feet to wooden drawer that was open. Let me tell ya, the drawer did not stand up well, the xbox won. The xbox took a lickin' and kept on ticken'. Think they need to put the Gshock logo on it.

Also the one at the Quarry (just north of downtown Minneapolis) is usually up and running too, as much as the playstation 2. The Gamecube is sometimes up and running. I'd bet they just turn the off every once in awhile, and it doesn't have much to do with the machine itself.

The Target in St. Cloud doesn't have a working xbox but does have the PS2 and Gamecube working next to it.

Also I think some demo units would heat up and stop working according to the TARGET employee I talked to. He got me all freaked out because I had just bought XBOX.

This helped fuel the "Don't buy XBOX because it stops working when it heats up" thing

The ones in Crystal and St. Louis Park were both working the last time I was there.

the heating up thing is what i was told too, but that could have sumthin to do with the constant play for 16 hours a day, and i have a feeling that the night employees probably played the thing ont heir breaks and such.
