Today's CDs (6/19)

Hot Snakes -- Suicide Invoice
Silkworm -- Firewater
Neil Young -- Comes A Time
Monterey Pop box set
Spoon -- Kill the Moonlight
tenEcke -- BLock Terrain
Fairport Convention -- Liege & Lief

So I got back from my west coast adventure last night. Amazing stuff. Big Sur is by far the most beautiful place I've ever been. I couldn't believe how gorgeous it was.

Also the new Spoon, Kill the Moonlight, which comes out in August or September I believe, really blows. Very very boring. Britt Daniels just wants to be Elvis Costello, but it seems like since Series of Sneaks he can only make bad EC records.

Glad to hear you had a good time out west Yancey. Big Sur and Tahoe are the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Where'd you hang out in the Bay?

I hung out in Oakland, SF, Berkely and Sacramento, as well as Big Sur. I wasn't too fond of SF. It didn't feel like a city to me, although coming from NY probably has a lot to do with it.

Needless to say I spent a lot of money at Mod Lang, Amoeba (both locations) and Rasputin. Some excellent record stores. Better than NYC shops in selection, mainly because of how much more space they have.

Compulsion: The Future Is Medium

I can't get enough of this CD!!! I'm shocked at how good this disc is compared to their debut CD which only had 3 good songs. Most impressive sophmore album since Filter's Title Of Record.

Randy - The Human Atom Bombs

Anyone who's a fan of The Hives should check out this great album, especially the songs Proletarian Hop, Rockin' Pneumonia & The Punk Rock Flu, and Addicts Of Communication.

Better late than never...

Fugazi - "In On the Kill Taker"
Brian Jonestown Massacre - "Give It Back"
Bjork - "Homogenic"

One of my co-workers bragged about knowing the drummer from Enuff Z'Nuff today. I think it's time for a new job.

Enuff Z'Nuff. Wasn't this one of those lesser '80s hair bands? Didn't even know they still existed.

Strangely enough, they're still around. I don't know if they ever tour these days, but they play around Chicago semi-frequently.

For the record: I AM NOT a fan.
