GC Bomberman Generation $39.99 at Circuit City!

Picked up this game yesterday at Circuit City which is $10 less than any other B&M that I saw. But call ahead to make sure they have it in stock. Went to the Burbank, CA store and they had no clue about the sale and had never received any in stock. They called the Glendale, CA store and they had them in stock and on sale. They had about 5 copies left yesterday, Sunday.

Haven't played the game yet, but the reviews have been good. If you have played Bomberman before, you will like this game.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm gonna pick this one up! I rented this game last weekend and it is awesome!! The single player is pretty good but the multiplayer mode rocks! There are tons of stages, options, rules, and they even have the SuperBlast stage (one of my personal favorites). The game runs super smooth and the load times are non-existent (my main gripes about the last version on the Dreamcast). I recomend this game...especially for its multiplayer!!

I'm very tempted to buy this game now. I used to love the SNES version back in the day. I'm a bit afraid my tastes may have changed over the past 10 years but for $40 I think it's worth a shot.

If you think your gaming tastes might have changed over the years I'd reccomend renting it first. It has improved on a lot of things but it still is bomberman at heart. It is more similar to the SNES version than the recent bomberman's that were on the N64 and DC though. I haven't had a chance to check out too much of the single player(only the first 2 worlds) because we've been playing the multiplayer mostly! Here's some scores it got:

Gamespot: 8.0
Bottom line: "Surprisingly addictive and deceptively clever, Bomberman Generation has gotten the series back on track."

IGN (Yeah, I know, but take it for what its worth): 8.1
Bottom Line: "A lengthy and varied story mode combines with classic Bomberman battle modes to create plenty of reasons to keep coming back"

Any chance the MP modes support computer controlled opponents or bots?

Yep, with varying difficulty levels. Also on some stages like the Coin battle there are additional computer controlled characters in addition to the 4 bomberman to add more mayhem.

That's cool.. So would it be worth picking up for the SP and MP against bots only? (Don't really have anyone to play MP against).

Its tough to say, i have played the multiplayer with only bots and it is fun, but for some people it could get tiring after awhile. The single player is standard but they throw in minigames and charaboms that keep things interesting. I recently found a really good one that lets you explode bombs by pushing "B" instead of waiting like normal. It should be pretty lengthy there are 6 crystals to get and each world is subdivided so about 36 or more levels I think, I've just gotten to the 3rd one now.

I'm hesitent to say "yes" if your only going to play single player or with bots because the game really shines in the multiplayer mode and we've played that more than the single player. If you a big fan of bomberman I'd say yes to get it, but if not I would reccomend to try to rent it first or maybe a store like Best Buy has it in their demo unit to see if you like it first before you put down your money. I forgot to link the reviews above I'll put them here and offer some other opinions.
