Super Smash Brothers Melee - Where are my coins?!
I seem to be confused on some things with Smash Bros. Melee. I go through the 1P modes and get a fair amount of coins after most stages from using the smash moves. But when it's all said and done and I go to the Lottery screen afterwards, it shows that I only have like 6 or 7 coins. I know that there were stages that I completed where I received, at least according to the end of stage scoring, more than 10 coins for 1 stage alone! Does anyone have any info on how the coin total is decided and maybe some easy ways to pick more up?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Just because you picked up coins by using smash moves during the match, doesn't mean you actually collected them to go towards your total coin count (to be used for trophy collecting).
Check out www.gamefaqs.com for the easiest way to get a bunch of coins.

Thanks for the response Zodo. I've actually checked gamefaqs.com in regards to the coin stuff, but couldn't really find an answer to my question.
When I get coins from the stage I'm not talking about the actual coins you collect. I mean when you finish a stage and it gives you your score and the coin symbol in the bottom left hand side shows "Coin X _". I assumed this was telling me how many coins I earned for that stage. Am I incorrect in this assumption?

I'm with you, superfro. I scoured the net and read through the manual several times trying to figure out what that "Coins" display means at the end of each level. And I'm still stumped...all I can tell you is that it doesn't seem to correspond to the actual number of coins you collect. Other than that, since we don't know what it is actually trying to tell us, it's useless.

I'm glad it's not just me Groucho. I mean good lord! I swear I read like 30 guides "explaining" the trophies and how the coin system works, yet nothing could tell me why I was playing 15-20 minute sessions for 3 coins. That just doesn't make any sense to me, which makes me think that I have to be doing something wrong or completely missing something. Yet nothing can point out what that "something" would be.
Ah well, I'll just keep hoping the right person will come along here with that much desired, obviously secret, info on how the hell this portion of the game works!

Same problem here. Everytime you 'smash' someone, you get a coin. I played Adventure mode, and got ALTEAST 30 coins, but when I went to the Lottery, I had like 4 coins... What gives?

I suggest you don't worry about it too much. There aren't all that many trophies you can win through the lottery. I never once tried to earn a coin but I won all the trophies you can win through the lottery months ago.

I think for every 10 coins it shows you got in a match, you get 1 coin for the lottery. The best place AI ever saw to rack up alot of the coins you see when it tallies them is to do the adventuer mode with Fox---------when the race comes up, you can get pretty far with him, and then the coin totals come up, it says I got something like 30 coins, and then it shows I got about 2-4 coins.

The coins you are refering to are merely parts of the coin. It takes a few of the smaller ones to make one big one. I thought what you thought as well but if you get lots of them you will see a larger coin appear, that is the actual coin. anyone get the trophy where you have to earn a 1000 coins?
