X-Box DVD Remote...

Normally pushing the "info" button gets the total elapsed time on the DVD. Somehow, today I was getting the elapsed time for each chapter. Is there a way to change the time settings, -lets say, like the "time remaining" on the disc. I enjoy that feature and miss it on the x-box. The instructions with the remote haven't been much help. Thanks...

If there is I can't find it. I personally hate the Xbox remote. Its missing too many buttons, like the time button to change the time display. Why they didn't put it in that display menu I don't know. Why the didn't just put all the usual DVD buttons on the remote like audio, subtitle, etc I'll never know either. If I have to use a game system to watch DVDs I use the PS2 with the Sony remote.

So there's no way to determine how much time is remaining until the end of the movie? Ugh. Without even factoring in the debate about picture quality (which is fine for me), it seems that neither the Xbox or the PS2 are great replacements for stand alone DVD players.

The Sony remote for the PS2 does give you all the buttons found on a normal DVD remote and you can change the time display to see the time remaining. About the only thing it is missing is the zoom feature the xbox has and I never use it anyway.

Are they stand alone DVD player replacements? No, neither really is, but they do okay for an extra player. The picture quality is about even on both the Xbox and PS2, so if you need an extra player they do okay. I just wish Microsoft would update their remote.

The PS2 isn't bad, but the remote is too busy. It's hard for me to find the 'time' button when watching a movie in a darkened room. I guess I'm lucky it has a 'time' button!

I have a Sony 3000, -one of the earlier models, -and I've got to say I prefer the X-Box in terms of its picture quality (the colors, in particularly, seem much brighter), but I still want my Sony for all of its other features. In other words, I agree the "Box" makes a good "second" player, but I wouldn't want it to be my only player...
