REM DVDs...

Ahhh! I thought these guys only had one DVD out which was them in concert or something. But I go to the store last week and see three DVDs... what's on them? I'm really looking for a video archive... I'm not too interested in behind the scenes or concerts or anything.

They have a bunch of things on DVD. I think that the only thing of theirs that hasn't hit DVD is Succumbs, which was the first video collection, and I don't see that being released on DVD anytime soon, so I'm keeping my VHS copy.

Unless I'm forgetting something, for video collections, there's Pop Screen, This Film is On and Parallel. For live performances there's Tourfilm and Road Movie.

I haven't seen most of them in stores too much, but you should be able to order them online. I know that the official R.E.M. page sells them for $19 each. I think they're all $25 retail.

I've resisted the temptation to pick up Parallel a few times...those are some great videos, but I foresee a possible video collection in the future....

Yeah, I picked up Parallel and Pop Screen used, but I haven't gotten any of the others yet. I have VHS copies of all the other stuff for the time being.

I don't know that they'd release an all-inclusive video collection, though, especially after having released everything seperately. It would be nice, but not for those who already spent $60-75 for the three separate releases.

Have any other artists done something like that? Most of the video collections I've seen have been basically rereleases of the VHS versions.

So, Pop Screen, This Film is On and Parallel are all video collections? So like, different collections from different albums or eras or something?

I'm sorry, I don't know much about their albums and names and stuff. I don't even own their CDs (to me, CDs are a bit pricey for what they give you.) I have a few videos on tape and stuff, because I love them. Great music mixed with great videos.

Never mind the DVDs....

.... what about the real life "soap opera"?

Aw man, I don't care about that. I just want to know if they're video collections.

Yeah, they're all video collections from different eras. Here's a page that lists the songs included on each:

R.E.M. Videography

I really like their videos, too, so I'd say they're all worth picking up.
