Attention weezer fans : Rivers Cuomo is an A-hole

has anybody read the May 2002 issue of Guitar World with Rivers Cuomo on the cover? i considered myself a die-hard weezer fan, but not anymore. Rivers is an ungrateful little bastard. here's an excerpt from the article that pretty much summed it up:

GW: You guys don't do in-store record singing or after-show meet-and-greets?
RC: Hell no! Fans are annoying. They all want something.
GW: Whether it be asking you to sign something or expecting you to act a certain way...
Cuomo: Yeah, or asking me to play a certain song. They're all little bitches, so I avoid them at all costs.

here's a link to the article, check it out.

If I were in weezer, I'd hate the majority of my fans too. No offense.

I don't think he is an a-hole, I think he is just honest.

I think fans expect too much at times. I mean I know fan buy the records, and fans pay for the tickets to the tours. But its not like the fans get nothing for what they pay, sometimes fans expect too much. I think that he just spoke his mind.

Could it be dry humor that comes across poorly in print?

That's my guess.

But even if it's not, who cares. If he doesn't like people coming up to him begging for autographs, pictures or to yell the obligitory "you guys ROCK" in his face, I totally understand. Just because someone is in a band or movie or just famous does not give us common folk the right to ask anything of them. I actually like the guy more now for being honest about they way he feels about those people.

Rivers really does hate the cult they have spawned (as do I). I can't really blame him for it. But, he's a sleazebag. I have three friends who have slept with him -- none of them attractive and all of them Asian.

Just meeting him at shows, friends of friends, etc. It's really easy to meet musicians. But yeah, he's a complete sleazebag.

I knew a girl in college (fairly attractive, not a knockout though) who went to one of their shows and ended up being invited by him to travel with the band. She spent a week with them and slept with at least two of them (Rivers included). He sounded pretty sleazy from what she said, but she liked the guitarist. At least they paid for her to get home. Also, she wasn't Asian...

After Pinkerton, and "Across the Sea" in particular, there were a lot of jokes about Rivers having a young Asian fetish. But it's true. It's out of control.

I almost mentioned "Across the Sea" in my post but didn't. I liked that song years ago. When I heard it for the first time in quite a while recently, it's actually kind of creepy.
