Kid Rock on Radiohead
Check out this article:
NEWS - Kid Rock Says Radiohead's OK For Computers, Not Parties
03/28/2002
(3/28/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- Radiohead is one of the most critically acclaimed modern rock bands of the decade, but don't count rap-rocker Kid Rock as a fan. The "American Bad Ass" recently told LAUNCH that he doesn't understand all the fuss about the veteran British band.
Rock explained, "I mean, I'm sure nice guys, and we could probably have a beer and have a great time hanging out, but I don't just don't like the music," he said. "I do not get it at all. I haven't given a lot of it a chance. It might be ignorant on my part, but for the most part I've seen a few live things and heard some records. If I'm having a party and I've got some chicks over hanging out, and all my boys are hanging out, I'm not grabbing for the Radiohead CD. Flat out, it's not gonna happen. If I'm in the office with all my computer buddies and we're trying to design a website, I might put on Radiohead."
That's rich. Kid Rock criticizing someone's music. He is the biggest, most unoriginal poser today. And he is not a musician, he is an entertainer.

And I'm sorry, but I wouldn't even call Kid Rock an entertainer. He's just another white trash piece of s--- who made it.

I like Kid Rock (I agree with his comment about not understanding Radiohead, since I am clueless as well). As far as parties go, I also agree with him about not putting in a Radiohead CD...I wouldn't either. My understanding of music is a song that might have a good melody, but that's just me.
Some may not like Kid Rock's music, but the one thing I like most about the guy is his open respect he has for the love of classic Rock'n'Roll. The fact that he praises bands like ZZ Top, Bob Seger and Lynyrd Skynyrd and having Hank Williams as his idol is 'nuff said and not spoken as much as it should be these days when most music is terrible (again, IMO).
I also saw a recent interview with him where he stated that he does not want to cater to the younger, MTV watching crowd, hence many are not responding well to his new album. I for one don't like his rap shtick, but when he sings his southern/blues/rock songs, he does what he does best and isn't afraid of admitting where his influences came from.

Have you ever heard Radiohead? You want melody, listen to Karma Police.

Kid Rock's 100% correct. Radiohead would suck for a party.

I love Radiohead, great band, and as much as I would wanted them to be played at parties, it just didn't fly. And I was up in Humboldt, still the stoners rallied to hear Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, and other bands of that caliber.

I wouldn't play entire Radiohead album at a party, but I have had them on a mix and it went over well. They aren't entirely mellow. Geez!

Some of Radiohead's stuff is quite hard, especially the older stuff. Harder than anything Kid Rock has put out. Besides if I want some hard party music, I'm gonna go in a direction a little more talented and capable than Kid Rock. Like Van Halen.

Not that I am defending Kid Rock (since he is a nonce anyway), but there are quite a few fellow music peers who dont think of them highly either
Texas - "shite"
Stereophonics - "no tunes"
Oasis - "bollocks"
Courtney Love - "f**k 'em"
London Suede - "they exist"
Kid Rock - "sad" "If you like Radiohead's record's don't buy mine" he told Spin Magazine "We should tour together" he continued in a later interview "It'll be like a speedball. You be the heroin, I'll be the blow"
(excerpted from NME 2 February 2002)
I like Radiohead myself, yet I find the last past albums unlistenable the second time around.

Kid Rock is definitely widely renowned as one of modern music's most visionary and introspective artists, rivaled only maybe by Gene Simmons as a true rock n' roll poet.

Forget all the critical accolades and awards, Kid Rock saying he doesn't "get" Radiohead is probably their best achievement.
Hey, KR might not want to play Radiohead at one his parties, but I certainly wouldn't want to play him at one of mine either. And if I did, I can assure you my friends would leave faster than you can say Government cheese.
