Review wanted: Art of Buster Keaton box set
If anyone could advise whether this box set is worth it to a BK fan it would be truly appreciated. Content and quality of production is key.
thanks much

DVD Talk Gold Edition
can't speak for the whole set yet, as the one i got from DDD last week came in beat to sh%t (the second box set i've ordered from them to arrive beat up-they're supposed to be sending out replacements so i should have them soon)
-however, i did buy a copy of the General which i opened & watched before ordering the boxed set.
the box set is just a re-packaging of the individual discs w/ an extra unreleased disc of commercials, interview footage etc.
the other big difference is that the discs in the box set are now NOT in the snapper cases that they were in when packaged for individual sale.
watching the two shorts on the General disc (cops and the playhouse) made me realize what a value @ $107 the box set was.
this guy was a genius and the movies are still vastly more entertaining than a lot of what gets churned out today.
if your a Buster Keaton fan, or have only seen one or two movies of his and liked them, then its a no-brainer.
for the age of the elements, the quality on the one disc i've seen so far was very acceptable.
don't know how much value this post is, but i'm VERY enthusiastic about this set and can't wait till my replacement comes in!

If you're all ready a BK fan, then the boxed set is a no-brainer. These are great films and great shorts. The quality of the transfers (by David Shepard) are wonderful and the extra disc has some really great stuff on it.
Plus, with 11 discs, the price is very reasonable.
