Woo Hoo got my X-Box !!!!

I went and sat at Wal-Mart tonight to get it waited about 5 hours . First they had 14 then 20 then all of a sudden they had only 10 before they even go to sell them . So that means some of the employees got there cut first , oh well . I also picked up Halo and plan on playing it later today after I get some sleep .

On another note they would not sell them til 6:00 a.m. for some reason . There were only 3 of us there most of the night then around 4:00 people started to show up , about 30 got turned away . My local Best Buy was getting 81 X-Boxes in rode by there after I got mine and you would not believe the line ! I held mine out the window and drove off quickly .........j/k about holding it out the window .

And.......

Not picking one up right away but it will be in my plans for the near future. Too much going on with my PS2.......on my second time through GTA3. Half Life...Metal Gear...Max Payne....Jak and Daxter....all on order. Will be looking at a Gamecube also...especially when the new RE games hit the console.

I just got mine this morning. Wal-Mart opened at 7am (not a 24 hour one). I got there at 6am expecting a line but there were only 3 others there before me. By 7am only 1 more person showed up, so only 5 people there for the 15 X-boxes they had.

They aren't packing any software in the box are they? Something like a demo disc or something?

I really miss the days when you could buy a console and take it home and play it right away. Nowadays you usually have to add $50 to the cost of the console to pay for a game.

I really miss the pack-ins.

Congratulations on snagging an XBox. I'm actually pretty jealous.

Just wanted to add a quick Colorado Springs Xbox report. I just went down to Target an hour before it opened. They were still handing out numbers. They got in 30 boxes and as of 7:15am, there's still 7 left.

This morning I went to Target in Skokie, IL (North side of Chicago) before work at about 7:40 am. I was the last person to get a number (20/20). I applied for Target credit to get the 10% discount and used the coupon they had for 3 games + controller = $25 off. So after waiting for 30 minutes after the store opened I got:

X-Box
second controller
Halo, Project Gotham Racing and Madden 2002

for $454.02

Too bad I have to work late tonight.

I am happy to see people are finding them. This could be a good Christmas for them if they keep the supply up.

Stopped in my local SuperTarget about 9:00 a.m. No line, looked like about 3-5 more systems still left on the shelf.

Cancelled my pre-order with bestbuy.com -- they still hadn't shipped it as of this morning. Looks like ebgames.com is still the online pre-order king.

In regards to the Target coupon for $25 off 3 games + a controller... is that some special coupon or can it be picked up at the store? I got my xbox but didn't buy any games for it yet. Was going to stop by bestbuy on the way home and get some, but if I can save $25 I'll go the extra distance and get them at target.

FYI, Best Buy has it's own deal going on; buy 2 Xbox games or 2 Xbox accessories and save $10 instantly. Or buy 3 Xbox games or 3 Xbox accessories and get $20 off instantly. You can't get the deal if you mix games & accessories; it has to be 2/3 games or 2/3 accessories.

Ah, thanks! I was going to get 2 games + controller + highdef av pack. Guess that will save me $20 at bestbuy. If I throw in a third game thats $30 off at bestbuy which beats out the $25 at Target.

When they handed out the numbers, they handed out coupons with them. So you can get it at the store. There were two separate deals on the coupon:

If you buy:

2 games from a list of 6 (Halo, Oddworld, Project Gotham, NFL Fever, I forget the rest)
and Madden or Tony Hawk 3
and a controller or Memory card

you save $25

or:

2 games from a list of 6 (Halo, Oddworld, Project Gotham, NFL Fever, I forget the rest)
and a controller or Memory card

you save $10.

I believe the offer expired 12/15.

Which SuperTarget in the area? Just wondering...if you're close maybe we could get together and play some X-Box since I'm not buying one just yet.

I got mine today at 11:30. I was #86, but I didn't ask how many more they had. I think I will let it sit in my closet a few weeks before I decide what to do with it. If the Xmas demand for the X-box is bigger than the supply, then it will be going the way of the ebay.

Word is that Orlando and Tampa are sold out. Guess everyone in my college town is too cheap to buy one.

The SuperTarget in Shoreview (694 & Lexington).

I'll pass on the offer to get together.

You don't live too far away from me. I didn't mean "get together", the door doesn't swing that way. You liking the X-Box so far?

I won't know until tonight when I get home from work. I picked up 2 games earlier this week at Best Buy; NFL Fever 2002 & Halo. Unfortunately, the Halo CD was loose in the case and looked a bit scratched up, so it may not work & I may have to bring it back for an exchange.

I watched some of the demo systems around town over the last couple weeks, and wasn't all that impressed with the look of the games via standard TV & A/V connection. Or the GameCube games for that matter. But I've got an HDTV-capable TV, and once I get the high-def cables for the Xbox, I'm guessing it'll look pretty good.

We've been playing Halo at the house on the our HD and it is absolutely gorgeous.

The HD AV-pack is worth the $20 or what ever.

65" of widscreen HD 5.1DD Halo goodness.

The Xbox doesn't come with any demo, but MS has said there is a special surprise in every Xbox and they wonder how long it will be before someone finds it!

Got mine this morning too!
Target opened their doors at 8:00am (no 24-hour Target within 200 miles of me). I was #10 in line and they gave out only 15!
Got there at 6:00am so 2 hours of waiting was worth it.

I just got it out of the box and hooked it up to my home theater system complete with digital audio (you'll need to buy a fiber optic cable separately).....that means I won't be posting back until later tonight!

I wish I had read that last part before just going to Best Buy - I got two games and 1 HDTV pack thinking I'd get $20 off - no dice. Oh well. BTW, I asked how their sale went at Best Buy this morning - they had 160 consoles and they opened early, but they didn't sell out until about 11:30

Anyone want to describe the boot sequence of the XBox with and without a game inserted? I don't know why I'm fascinated with stuff like that but I am.

For those who went to Target, at what time did they hand out tickets? I'd like to know for the 18th. Thanks!
