what's the best PC game pad?

I recently purchased MADDEN for the PC and realized that my old MS Sidewinder doesn't have enough buttons for my taste (it's the old Sidewinder, with four buttons and two triggers).

So, being in the mood to buy a new one, which game pad is the best? Should I save my money and buy a Game Pad pro for $15, or spend a bit more on the more expensive Sidewinders or better Game Pad Pros?

What do you use?

IBTM

I use the Gravis Xterminator Pro - I like the feel, and its very customizeable. Just be warned that as of now, there are no XP drivers available (assuming that's the OS you are currently or planning on using soon).

whatever you do, stay the hell away from the Wingman Rumble Pad. I'm borrowing my friends so I could muck around with the neogeo emulator and:

1. Although it installs, it won't recognize it at all in win98, just win2k.

2. In win2k, doesn't want to recognize the d-pad, just the analog sticks, which are in a horrible position. Killed the heel of my hand.

3. the buttons are small, slick and generally useless. Absolutely horrible.

Actually, the Wingman Rumble Pad is the highest rated device out right now... perhaps you need to download the right drivers. I can't understand why it wouldn't work. Call their tech support.

The Gravis Xterminator is pretty badass...

Also the following:

Kensington Gravis Xterminator Force Feedback Game Pad
Belkin Components Nostromo n45
Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad Pro
Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad

Gravis also still makes one that looks just like the playstation controller. The only way to decide on what you want is to go to best buy or compusa and hold them in your hands. They'll all work about the same, but the difference will be in your hands. I prefer a keyboard and mouse in any case, so I've got a couple of Gravis pads and a Sidewinder collecting dust in my drawer.

It might be workable with win98 with the right drivers -- why it didn't come with them is beyond me since it works with 2k. Regardless, this pad sucks even harder than the sidewinder pad for fighting games.

Have yet to try a gravis pad, but with my xbox, my fighting need will be sated - i hope.
