Dreamcasters--What DC games to play with my wife?

OK fellow Dreamcasters, you've been so good picking out multi-player games, what DC games do you recommend that I can play with my wife?

I'd especially like games we can play at the same time, not just taking turns.

Keep in mind that gore, even blood, is a major turn-off, as is anything too complicated to control. What do you recommend for:

1. A racing game?

2. A fighting game? (Soul Caliber looks a little violent. Maybe Dead or Alive 2?)

3. A shooting game where we go for a common goal? (Fur Fighters?)

4. A shooting game where we hunt each other?

Please give me your recommendations! I'll be purchasing based on what you say. Thanks!

Actually I used to play Sega Swirl and Tetris with my last girlfriend. We both had a blast with it.

Actually Virtua Tennis would be a great game as well. You can play together or against each other...so it won't be much different than marriage.

I have to second the Virtua Tennis
recommendation in this thread as well.

It really would be worth owning a DC
for this game alone...

If Virtua Tennis 2 is out yet it
might be even better. Can't wait to try it.

Actually, don't knock Soul Calibur. My wife LOVED playing this with me, and she's typically not into the overly violent games or fighters. There's no gore in it, and the simplistic-enough controls made it easy for my wife to play. Of course, this game can be as complex as you want to make it, with the myriad of moves your player has. But she loved mastering just a few simple moves in the game. She was glad to hear Soul Calibur 2 is on its way--I can't remember if this was confirmed for PS2 or not, but if so, we'll be picking it up.

I "third" Virtua Tennis. We had fun with that one as well.

Man, you're a lucky guy.

I've always wanted a girl who's into video games or could at least try to play them if for no other reason than quality time.

this is how it is with my wife. I'll buy a game... she'll watch me play it for a day or two... and then next thing I know I come home one day and she has already beat the game! this happened with Resident Evil for PS2 and Shenmue for DC

My girlfriend and I had fun with House of the Dead, Confidential Mission, and Chu Chu Rocket. She's not really into fighting games. She also liked Mr. Driller, but thats 1 player.

Whats funny is a lot of guys do too. Ive gone down to my arcade on some SAT nights to find all these guys and girls in their warm-ups and such battling like it was a competition. I myself never touched the game but recently have wanted to pick it up for my DC out of novelty.

Samba de Amigo might fit the bill, but you gotta have the maracas to get the full experience.

OK, I guess I have to take back my judgments about this game. I got it because of its high ratings and out of all the games I got for my wife, this is her FAVORITE. Thanks for the recommendation.

Your wife has great taste - this was/is the system seller for me on the Dreamcast. I actually played it on the DC before I played it in the arcades, and I have to tell you I was amazed at how much better the DC version looked and played. I've owned and been owned in that game but I always keep coming back for more. One particular favorite is Ivy - her Dominatrix throw (when she is behind the opponent) always is fun to do.

If your wife likes fighting games, Dead or Alive 2 is great too, though she might take exception to the way the women are portrayed. (In fact, DoA3 is the front running system seller for the Xbox for me). Power Stone 2 is fun to play also - the action and camera angles get a bit hectic sometimes but it's fun multiplayer action.

Racing games are great too - some favorites were Demolition Racer (Must... Kill... Cars....) and the Loony Toons Space Race is great too - very well done.

Although it doesn't seem like it, Chu Chu Rocket is an excellent multiplayer game. I'm not that good at it but it is still a blast to play multiplayer.

For my money, DC is STILL a vital system to look at - the games are great, and the graphics, while not the latest and greatest are certainly close enough - in fact that's how I look at the nextgen consoles - how much they differ from the DC. Anyhow, keep us posted on what you get - I'd be interested.

I was just going to mention Bust A Move 4.

An amazing, classic game that everyone likes to play.
