Thats quite a review, if its half as good as they say I'll be happy.

Anyone know where to get a USB ethernet adapter cheap? I want to try out the multiplayer action on my cable modem...

In the latest EGM the three reviewers gave it a 9.5, 9.0 and 9.5.

They also rate the game in four categories at the bottom of the page.

Visuals-9
Sound-8
Ingenuity-8
Replay-9

I'll definitely be picking this up for the Gamecube.

But I don't think the Gamecube version has online play.

It doesn't, but that's fine because I don't like playing games online. I've had a dreamcast for over two years and played it online once. If I'm going to play games multiplayer, I want to play with my friends in the same room, not with a bunch of dweebs I don't know over the Internet, it's no better than playing against the computer anyway.

Yep, or else we'd have better things to do with our time than post here.

This game is supposed to be a significant improvement over the first two, and be more different from THPS2 than THPS2 was from the original. The level objectives seem to be the main differnce. They are supposed to be much more interactive. Kind of "help this guy do _______" type of things rather than just earning cash, finding tapes, etc. Plus the online play, for the ps2 version, is also a big plus for a lot of people, though it doesn't interest me personally. The environments are supposed to be more active, more traffic, more pedestrians etc. The review also says that the "Create a Park" and "Create a Skater" features are much better in THPS3, giving you a ton more options and the park editor is supposed to be more user friendly.

I'd guess they rated the ingenuity on what it added to the series/genre, rather than being something totally unique or innovative as a whole. EGM is very good about rating games according to their genre, rather than comparing them to all games. I mean you're only going to have so much ingenuity in a skateboarding series.

Well, my wife refers to DVD Talk as "the geek board", so I am partial to the term geek as well.

Was there any doubt that this game will ROCK? I can't wait to get my copy (ship it already Amazon).

ps, to you X-Box fans, enjoy Tony Hawk 2X

I totally agree with you. Onling games are such a hassle. And talking trash is so much better when your talking trash to someone in the room.

I guess so, but I mean this isn't a jump like GTA2 to GTA3. There are some new goals, some new tricks, some bigger levels. Of course the game is going to be awesome, but that doesn't change the fact that it's going to be the same gameplay.

Well THPS3 only got an 8 out 10 for ingenuity, I imagine something that has changed as much as GTA3 would get a 10.

I hate playing with friends because either they kick your butt or you kick their butt, plus their is no randomness to it. They always play the same, as do you. And with online, you can play the best players and learn new tricks, too.
