I watched Ashes of Time (bootlegged version?), and there is no menu to select the languange or subtitles, it just displays on the screen. My question is, do most Hong Kong DVD's have the menu for languange and subtitles.. Thanks in advance..

Many HK DVDs do have menus, but at the same time, many of them don't. If you're referring to the Mei Ah DVD of "Ashes of Time" from Hong Kong, this is not a bootleg. Although the Mei Ah DVD is of poor quality, unfortunately it is the best DVD release of this film so far.

HK discs

There are the odd discs (usually older release titles) that don't have menus, but they are a rarity these days. Even most of the crappy Mei Ah discs have menus now.

Most Hong Kong DVDs have menus for subtitle & language selection, chapter list, and trailers. They are not the best but they're there. If you buy the earlier HK DVDs, however, they may or may not have menus. I think I remember that a few of my older Mei Ah titles had a menu display and quickly disappears to show the movie.

More questions

I just ordered some HK movies from DDDhouse.com.

- Young and Dangerous series.
- Expect the unexpected
- Century of the dragon.

Anyone know if these DVD's have menus? Thanks again...
