I've already got the purple GBA preordered, and I've paid for half of it, but what games will you be buying? I'm going to get Super Dodgeball, Super Mario Bros. 2 and Tony Hawk 2.

I am getting a bundle at EB and you can pick two games of your choice... I am picking Mario and Castlevania. Then I'll probably also get F-Zero within the next few days if not when I pick up my GBA. I won't get it on launch day becuase I'll be on my honeymoon and won't get back home till the 14th.

Y'know, I hate to be a downer, but you might want to try one of these out at your local Toys-R-Us before buying. I've been looking forward to a new portable for years now, but after 5 minutes with one of these little cheap plastic thingies, I'm probably not getting one. The screen is next to impossible to see in good light, and the R and L buttons don't click at all. Felt, quite frankly, like it was going to snap in my hands.

What a downer. I don't have a Toys-R-Us around here to give a test run. I think I'll be OK with it regardless. I'm not a hardcore gamer. I just want someone to use at my GF's, taking dumps etc.

The problem with the Toys R Us demo units is they are attached so tightly (and low to the ground) to that stand that you can't get a good feel for the unit or a good view.

But while the screen can be tought to see in certain light (Just like the original Gameboy Color) the unit is surprisingly small and compact but works very well. I like the feel of it a whole lot better then the GameBoy color and having better then SNES quality graphics/gameplay on a system that small is pretty cool. The cartridges are even half the size of Gameboy Color carts but hold more data!
I would definitly recommend Mario Advance.. The classic Mario Bros game alone was worth it for me.

Btw - I picked up an import from Japan. The actual hardware is the exact same thing that will be released in the US and you are not forced to get a package deal with items you don't want.

Just checked one of these out at Best Buy yesterday...was not overly impressed. You are right about the fact that this system is just another hand held being released by a different company.

My local EB has a demo GBA in each color and the screen is fine. And they do not feel like cheap plastic things.

I messed around with one at my local BestBuy, and I thought the screen was impressive for what you're paying. I could even see it (to some extent) when viewed at an angle! Also, I like the compact size combined with graphics that are on par (if not better) than the SNES. I'll definitely be getting Super Mario Advance and probably the F-Zero game (loved that game).
