Not to say I'm not interested, but this product was sopposed to be ready at launch. (GT2000) I kind of loss track when it was sopposed to hit because every time I got my hopes up they delayed it.
Here's hoping it actually makes it.

It does come out in Japan today, it is scheduled for June in the US. Famitsu rated the game and gave it a Platinum award (it's highest award), which means it scored 36 or more points total with the 4 reviewers. No one knows the scores yet though (and I have yet to check my sites this morning). Yes, it was supposed to be a launch game, but at least they took the time to make the best game they could and it looks like they have succeeded.

Japanese release was today, but I've already seen reports of shortages.
Famitsu scores were 9, 10, 10, 10. Earlier reports only stated 36 or better, since is was reported as a Famitsu Platinum award before scores were released.
U.S. release is still mid-June.
A couple months to translate / add some U.S. car models.
Hopefully, my import copy will be arriving next week...

Oh by the way I am overjoyed that they delayed it because I wouldn't of bought 2000 because it was just 2, but looked a little better this is an actual overhaul, and change although it still doesn't seem to be a sequel, more of a redo it does look worth it, where 2000 did not.

Hey, Delays are something I agree with if they are needed. I'd rather wait then get a crappy product. The main thing that was upsetting was the fact that Sony basically swore up and down it would be ready for an American launch. They had a demo of it to demonstrate the PS2 hardware. I guess since Ridge Racer jumped on they felt it wasn't a big deal if they delayed it. Then again they were probally just promising it because they didn't know if the Cube would be pushed back or not.

Will someone who gets the import version (you lucky bastard) please answer this question: Early in development, there was talk of including much more intelligent AI for the computer-controlled cars. It was supposed to be that if you cut them off, they would try to to get back at you, making it much harder to get around them or bumping you. I haven't heard anything like that in a long time. So, how is the AI in the game?
In any case, June can't come soon enough for me!

I have to agree, I'll wait however long it takes for them to get this game right.
GT one and two were two the best racing games for any platform ever. The only thing that soured me even a little bit on GT2 was that they rushed it out to meet the Christmas deadline. The menus suck, and when you aren't racing, the usability of the game is quite poor. I much prefered the (also flawed) menus in Gran Turismo one.
From everything I've seen (the local B&N has a demo), this game is incredible. If taking the extra time means the whole game is enjoyable or that the software is fully mature -- so be it. I'd much rather have a late game that is nearly perfect than a game that shipped on time and has serious problems that keep it from being a world-class game.
...just don't let it become another Diakatana.

With Famitsu magazine rating it 39 out of 40, we do not have another Daikatana on the horizon. This is the real deal if Famitsu rates it that high since it is the most honored video game magazine in Japan.
