Just finished Deus Ex and all of it's endings. The game is huge and absolutely brilliant. Probably among the top 3 I've ever played. Few games deserve the "epic" moniker, but Deus Ex is certainly one of them. However, did anyone else feel that the confrontations built up throughout the game ended far too abruptly? Like with Gunther, Walton Simons, and the ending. I annihilated Simons in literally one second. Gunther was quick too, though your character's Arnie-style quip just before finishing him kinda makes up for it. Bad-Ass.
But the endings are what I feel could've been much better. The ideas are interesting, and the endings are done with style. However, I felt as if they should've extended them out more and shown more of the aftermath. Especially the AI ending.
They should've done something in the vein of "Fallout" - Flipped to all the major characters you met throughout the game to show their fates. Would've been much more satisfying. Anyone else agree?

Yeah, I do agree with you on some of your views. But I think the endings are better without showing the results of your actions to show that each ending has its and good and bad possibilities. What really happens is left to the imagination of the player. In that way, the endings are open ended. I felt the best choice was the AI. I'm sure that's highly disputable to anyone who's played it. I felt with the bosses, the difficulty of killing them depends on the weapon. I assume that with a rocket, it'd be easy. With the dragon sword, it's one a hit kill too. But for a machine gun, it was VERY hard for me to kill them, even though I was a master at that skill. I also had a ton of mods and I could never kill the bastards. So I just sliced him (I never used rockets and heavy weaponry) : )
I wish I had played one of the Fallouts, so I can't compare
(Oops, just remembered: I never fought Gunther because I got the killphrase for him from Jaime Reyes)

Hey, you can get fallout 1 and 2 dirt cheap almost anywhere now. I'd recommend compuexpert.com for online buying, but most stores should have them for under $20 each now (play them in order).
But yeah, I was expecting at least a nice cutscene after each ending in Deus Ex -- but no such luck.

For them to say Deus Ex had three different endings was a little misleading. I had thought that the ending you got at the end of the game would somehow be related to actions that you took throughout the game. In reality, you can get to each of the three endings at the last level in the game.
And no, I can't think of any of the "boss" battles that were really tough. Still a great game though.
