Coldplay's 4th album - "Viva La Vida"

Coldplay is one of my favorite bands and they've got a new record coming out. Sadly, I haven't found any of their new music so I can't get a taste for what they're doing.

The tracklist will be eight of these songs:

"Famous Old Painters"
"Glass of Water"
"Lost!"
"Cemeteries of London"
"Violet Hill"
"Poppy Fields"
"Yes!"
"Leftrightleftrightleft"
"Rainy Day"
"Prospekt's March"
"Strawberry Swing"
"Lovers in Japan"
"Song for the Escapist"
"Death & All His Friends"
"Life in Technicolour"
"Chinese Sleep Chant"
"Reign of Love"

Plus, "42" which is the lead single according to NME. It's being produced by Brian Eno (and there were rumors of production by Timbaland and Kanye West(!) earlier).

Allegedly, their sound will be very different as their first three albums they considered a "trilogy"...

Eagerly awaiting any other tidbits you guys may have.

Sounds interesting. They are also one of my faves so I look forward to seeing the new direction they are going in. I trust that they will put out a quality album.

Hopefully it will be a bit edgier and rough-sounding than the last one. I thought it had some great songs, but the sound was so glossy and polished. Is it the same producer?

Brian Eno produced their new album? Is that info for real? Because that's awesome! I was disappointed with their last album - although it still had some pretty strong songs. Brian Eno is one of my favorite musicians and producers so hopefully this is a sign of what we can expect from this one: greatness.

NME isn't exactly the most trustworthy source of info. I'd hold out until you hear something from mtvnews or Rolling Stone.

No I'm serious. I thought most people were aware of this. Any members from the UK can tell you the multitude of false info they report.

I was referring more to the fact that you would go to MTV News or Rolling Stone for trustworthy information. Regardless, it's been widely reported that Brian Eno is working on this album for months.

I would be highly charged about a Coldplay release anyway, but I thought I read (somewhere) that Radiohead producer, Nigel Godrich was working on this one. Now, if this is true, it brings me off my seat with anticipation!

I was hoping that they'd maybe retired or something. They're definitely a worst band ever candidate.

Just an opinion from an opinionated person, that's all. My intention isn't to start a fight or anything.

one would hope the remaining songs will become the b-sides to the compact disc and vinyl singles releases.

Bullshit, that's exactly what it was.

An opinion is "I don't really like Coldplay. I think they are overrated"

A threadcrap is "they are the worst band ever".

It's a glaring difference.

What are you doing posting in threads about "the worst band ever" anyway if not threadcrapping?

Nothing other than posting an opinion. Not used to the whole threadcaps thing, since most forums I use don't worry about them.

If the thread had been titled "What is your opinion of Coldplay", or "Which bands do you think suck", then the comment would have been on topic. This topic is about Coldplay's next album, and you had nothing to say about that.

I hope it's more memorable than X&Y - I only listened to it a handful of times, and pretty much ceased listening to the band all-together after that.

I've really liked everything that Coldplay has put out. With regards to X & Y, for me, "Speed Of Sound" is one of the best singles of the 2000's. I'll definitley buy the new album once its out.
