Great Sale at Tower.com on Blu-Ray and HD-DVD

I was shocked to see this, but suprisingly they have great prices on these movies, some as low as 13.99. Free shipping too!

Blu-Ray

HD-DVD

Ordered 4 items from them Tuesday, all shipped Wednesday. So they're improving past their old selves... I hope.

Some good prices for people just getting into the HD game (like myself). There are plenty of $13.99 titles I'd like to get. I have never ordered from Tower before though...

There are also some not very good prices like Cast Away, Man on Fire, and The Hills Have Eyes 2 for $68.70 each. Or Prison Break Season 1 for $168!

Not to threadcrap, just to warn fellow DVDTalkers, but you guys should check the negative feedback Tower.com has been getting recently. Last year they were bought by caiman.com, a notorious Amazon.com seller who most of the times had incredible prices for items that they didn't really have in stock. They seem to be conducting business the same way, but now from the Tower website. Do a search on the Store forum for Tower and you will see what I'm talking about.

I admit there are some decent $14.76 HD-DVD deals, but it's not worth the risk to me. I still think everybody will be selling HD-DVD for this price soon... Or more B1G1F sales, which will make everything $15 anyway... I'll wait...

See. This is a perfect example. This film has been delayed for both blu-Ray and HD-DVD. What caiman/Tower.com does is that they charge you inmediately for the order, even though they don't have the item. Then when you email them, they don't respond or give you a canned answer.

I don't know -- $73.44 for a copy of "The Reaping" on HD DVD doesn't seem like much of a bargain . . .

No, that's a misprint, unfortunately.

I ordered The Song Remains The Same HD-DVD last night and I just got a shipping confirmation for it in case anybody else was looking into it.

Guess it would be good to post what people ordered/got shipped... for me:

Hellboy (Blu-ray) $13.99 - Shipped
Paprika (Blu-ray) $18.xx - Shipped

Unrelated, but hell whatever:
Getting Started on Drums w/ Tommy Igoe (DVD) - Shipped
Streetlight Manifesto - Somewhere in the Between (CD) - Shipped

I think you're alright if you're informed and don't expect a release that only they have to actually ship. Just to feel a sliver better, I used Google Checkout, so I can have twice the force behind my pinging on them, just in case
