Guess That Movie By Screenshot, Part V: "Obscure Film? Whatever Do You Mean?"

l - r: The Man Who Wasn't There (2000), The Hudsucker Proxy (1994), Strange Brew (1983), Constantine (2005), The Butcher Boy (1997)

RULES
Current rules are as follows, from the old thread (subject to change):
1) Only ONE person posts a screenshot at a time. Multiple screenshots and clues are possible to make it easier.

2) Only the person who had guessed the movie correctly is allowed to post a new picture. If that person is not able to post a new picture => wildcard.

2a) In lieu of "wildcard," you can also declare "Kudama Time," which is basically the same thing, only difference is that it feeds the ego of a certain DVDTalk member.

3) If that person doesn't post a new picture within 6 hours => wildcard.

4) You can upload your pictures for free at:
http://www.imageshack.us/
http://www.photobucket.com/
http://www.imagehosting.com/
http://www.imagebanana.com/

5) Each user has two guesses and one question per post.

FOR PEOPLE NEW TO THE GAME
* You can get a sense of the format for this game by browsing the old threads:

Part I
Part II
Part III
Part IV

* To take a screenshot, the two most common methods are to play the film on your DVD-ROM drive and use software such as PowerDVD to take a shot (it's the small camera icon in the control panel). Alternatively, you can download the free (and excellent) VLC Player which takes screenshots.

Please note that if you use PowerDVD to take shots, they will come out as BMP files; before posting, please convert them into JPG or GIF files, as BMP files are roughly 1MB whereas JPG files are only 50KB on average. Likewise, VLC Player converts screenshots into PNG files, which can often be 600KB on average. There is plenty of free software that will convert your images for you; two of them are:

Irfanview
Fast Stone

Right now we're in wildcard time, so anyone who wants to kick us off, go ahead and post a shot.

Not that it's a big deal, but Orgazmo was actually 1998.

Great work GreenVulture! But Bad Company is from 1995, it wasn't the Anthony Hopkins/Chris Rock movie but the one with Lawrence Fishburne/Ellen Barkin.

I always thought of as a friendly jab due to my vulture like tendency to swoop on "wildcard" in gross misproportion to how many shots I was actually guessing. I did think it was funny and I guess my ego got a little encouragement. It was good marketing.

Rest assured this tendency was solely due to the fact that I got blocked at work and could only play for a couple of hours when I got home. Although I cannot view all of the image hosting sites used by posters, I can at least enter the site now via Google as proxy. Thusly I have forsaken my opportunistic weasel ways and henceforth conduct myself with the honor befitting a gentleman.

It does give me a warm fuzzy whenever people shout out the alternate to wildcard, I will admit. So if anyone is not adverse to warm fuzzy donations, pray continue.

No.

Ok, so it wasn't as easy as I thought. I'll give a clue:

In the International folder here at DVDTalk I recently mentioned that I bought the DVD.

Aaahhh...

The Company of Wolves

If that's right, I call wildcard. I have a date.

The sickening sight of a gorgeous Raymond Loewy/Virgil Exner-designed 1953 Studebaker Starliner coupe getting crunched.

ETA that insomnia is a bitch.

BTW, great job on the thread GreenVulture!

I suggest that anyone posting pictures list the year of the movie when it's guessed ... this will help if GV or anyone else continues the breakdown by year in a new thread. (I still can't believe you put in the work on this).

Here are a couple of more corrections to the year tallies:

1950 - 1959
The Lady From Shanghai (actually 1948)

2000 - current
The Four Feathers (actually the 1939 version)

Back to the screenshots:

This shot is from near the beginning of the movie, not the end.
