New Rilo Kiley single- The Moneymaker
I found this video today and I thought I would share it with you guys. I would consider it NSFW considering it has pornstars in it.
You can buy the single on iTunes.

Wow, I'm very surprised how weak that song is. Cliched lyrics, plodding beat. Nothing like the heights of their last couple of albums. I'm leaving an option to change my mind after more listens because this is such a damn fine band. Hope there are brighter moments on the album.

I liked it. I'm in love with Jenny Lewis though so my opinion might be a bit biased.

I liked, I can see myself blaring it in my car...so thats a good sign. But I'm always up for some Jenny Lewis....maybe I just like the contrast from her solo album (great album) - just something different and fresh.

Hailey has been a good performer over the years and I'm looking forward to seeing Faye in some new stuff she has coming out soon.
Oh, were we supposed to comment on the song?
Loved it. I too must admit, I tend to love anything Jenny Lewis has done since she lost her virginity to Bud Bundy.

Not really digging the song too much, but it's not bad. It's just not the typical Rilo Kiley that I've come to love.
I do like Rilo Kiley (and to a lesser extend Jenny Lewis's solo album with the Watson Twins). But bands don't always release their best songs as singles, so I'm definitely still looking forward to the new album.
Thanks for posting the video, whitetigeress.
(p.s. i do like the beat, though. and jenny is looking good, as always.)

You're Welcome
I think there might be other new songs on the bands myspace. I just glanced quickly, but I could be wrong.

Whew. Great album! Definitely sounds like what one would think they'd do stepping up to a major label. Some people are going to decry this as another move towards "normality", but who cares when it's done this well. I just wish they'd chosen a different song as a first single.

I downloaded the album last night and while it's not quite as good as "More Adventureous" it's solid from start to finish and has a completely different sound than MA.

Picked this up this morning & have gone through it once, & so far, the best word I can think to describe the new album is "forgettable". There just isn't much too it. Jenny's solo CD last year was my favorite album of the year, & RK's last CD was actually dissapointing to me as well. I just kind of miss there more lo-fi indie sound their first two albums had. Take Offs and Landings is by far my favorite RK CD, I miss the more guitar focused songs, since Blake is such a tremendous talent, I'm just a little bummed by this more compact, cliched, "pop" focused direction the band has taken. The album is by no means bad, still a million times better than anything you'd hear on mainstream radio/TV (although that isn't saying much), it's just dissapointing. I'm still in love with Jenny though.

Anyone know if there is anything additional with the Best Buy release, like the additional song download with the new M.I.A.? When I went to pick those 2 up, Rilo was sold out. I was pissed and don't know why I even go there, whenever there is a new cd of any quality, they seem to get like 5 copies per store (the exact # they got). If this was some crap cd like Pussycat Dolls, I'm sure they would have 200 copies brought in. Anyway, I am going to see if they have it at Target to pricematch on my way to work tonight, so any info is appreciated.
