DVD Collector "Facts"

"You're not alone... These are Universal Dvd truths for Collectors....

1. You just finally acquired that long out of print dvd title you always wanted
on ebay for $100 and it sits proudly on your shelf...as you log on to Dvdtalk-you notice a new thread announcing the Special 2 disc edition with new transfer and extended cut on preorder for $14.95 replacing your barebones $100 new " drink coaster".

2. Any True Collector knows what "triple dipping" means.

3. Will consider "renting a movie he already owns so as not to "break the seal"
as it is now ....."OOP".

4. Looks forward to replacing all their standard definition dvds that they never watched for high defintion dvds that they will never watch.

5. Will not hesitate to replace dvd they own for The new "You are a Sucka" edition with 15 seconds addtional "unrated footage".

I am sure there are more.......

7. Unlike other people, a DVD collector who sees a movie he or she wants with "The Criterion Collection" on top of the cover will be purchased at any price possible.

8. Virtually drain their bank accounts when Deep Discount and DVD Planet hold online sales cutting every DVD's price by 20%.

9. Believe that the only true way to have Star Wars on DVD is for actual DVD versions in 16:9 with surround sound, not with bootleg-quality laserdisc transfers.

10. Have an unconditional vendetta against snapper cases, flippers, non-anamorphic widescreen, and people who don't like widescreen.

11. Refuse to buy any DVD with an additional UPC sticker stuck onto the keepcase. Goo-Gone will NOT fix this.

12. If it's fullscreen, and it wasn't intended that way, it can burn in hell.

13. Feels strongly frustrated about a movie or TV show that has taken its sweet time coming to DVD, if ever.

14. Before we buy, will always shake a DVD case to make sure that the disc is not loose.

15. Will make sure that the DVD does not have any imperfections on the case.

16. You have a set of replacement DVD cases for when you buy used DVDS.

17. You'll be proud that you're not purchasing the single disc edition of a movie that you already know will get the 2 disc treatment within a few months.

19. You've bought a DVD on sale only to find out when you get home that you already had it amongst your 500+ disc collection.

I realize this has nothing to do with collecting, but....

Actually enjoys watching movies, and having them available for repeat viewings.

I'm guilty of most of these. In particular, examining each copy at the store till I find one that is in perfect condition, doing the shake test before I buy, and running out of shelf space.
