Chris Cornell - Carry On

I didn't see a post about it, so I figured I'd start one on the new Chris Cornell CD.

It's got much more rock than his first solo CD. First impression: half is good, the other half is filler.

I really like his cover of BIlly Jean, and the Casino Royale track.

I picked up the CD over at Target for the 2 exclusive downloads (a b-side and a temple of the dog track live).

I'm really curious to hear the cover of Billie Jean - have to admit on the face of it, that sounds godawful!

I loved his James Bond theme, though.

I thought it was just terrible when I heard it. But it may suffer from "youknowhowitgoes"-itis.

Got a pretty harsh 2* review in Rolling Stone.

Yeah, I don't put much stock in their reviews either.

This one gives me some pause though. I love Cornell in Soundgarden and Audioslave, but I didn't care much for his first solo CD (though it's been years since I heard it) and I didn't care for the Bond song either.

Even though I have their first album, I wasn't too big of a fan of Audioslave. A good song here and there...for me anyhow. I understand a lot of people dug 'em.

I liked Soundgarden quite a bit. Not one of my favorite bands, but a band I respect and have a couple albums of.

The Chris Cornell solo album (the first one) is almost good all the way through, imo. Something about it hits the rights chords with me, for some reason.

So if it's anything like a cross between Soundgarden and his first solo album, then I think i might like this one.

I love the first Cornell solo album and this one is solid as well. The lesser stuff on this album is the more rocking stuff.

It probably has to grow on me because so far I think it mostly blows... 3 good songs...I'll give it a few more spins, but right now I'm regretting the purchase.

I went to see him last tuesday in L'Ville. Great Great Show. One of the better shows ive ever been to.

i picked up the new album. Thought it was good, not amazing, but well written with a good sound.

Go see him live if you can. His live show was freakin great. 2 encores, tons of songs. about a 2 and half to 3 hour show.

Huge fan of Chris since his Soundgarden days, so i'm more than a casual fan.
