Unwatched movie pile May '07:A hundred skulls destroying a pooping person with low IQ

What Is This? Where Am I?

Spun off from an idea I had in the Unwatched DVD Pile thread, I decided to let everyone keep track of how they are coming along with their unwatched stuff along with seeing how everyone else is doing compared to you.

It may shock you to see how much you buy compared to how much you watch.

How Do I Start My Own List?

There are 5 different sections for your post.

Section one will be how many movies you have to watch at the beginning of the month. This won't get updated.

Section two will be your list of movies as you watch them. Update as you watch.

Section three will be for the bad, bad man who forces you to buy new movies even though you can't finish what you have. You could either to a count and change it as you get it, or impress us all with a list instead so we can see that you bought the new Power Rangers movie.

Section four will be your monthly net change. It'll be zero at the first first of each month. It works like this, let's say you watch 3 movies, it just became -3. The next day there's a 20% off sale at DDD, add 40 more so now it's +37.

Section five is your total net change. This one will carry over from the previous month or if you are just starting out, it will be zero. As you watch or buy movies, you will adjust this as well as the monthly net change.

How Do I Count TV sets or double feature DVDs?

You count them how you would normally count them. It's up for you to decide how you want to do it.

What If I Watch Stuff As I Buy? Can I Still Join?

There's no problem if you want to keep track of what you do.

It's from a program that generates a list of heavy metal song/album names. I just picked one at random.

Here's what I've learned about my collection as I go through them.

1. 95% of indie movies suck. I rented a few at first that were good so I though, hey, why not rent others I haven't heard of. Now I have to go through all sorts of crap that had I watched as I got, I wouldn't have gotten more.

2. Troma used to make good bad movies in the 80's. The quality of older films that they now put out on DVD would get a better treatment if the companies that do public domain DVDs were allowed to do them. Troma's idea of restoring a film seems to include destroying the OAR and making the print look worse that it did before.

Mr. Kaufman, please stop putting that Troma Dance shit on almost any dvd you put out. Everyone has seen it thousands of times and nobody gives a shit.

Do you know what else is stupid Lloyd? Your commentaries. I don't need to hear the same shit in every commentary how Bush sucks and Hollywood sucks and Troma is the greatest thing on Earth. Yeah, it's great that you have your own indie film festival so you can rage against the machine of those raging against the machine themselves.

If Troma was so great, most of you recent movies would just be stupid jokes, tits, and poorly done gore. You are a parody of what you once were. Stop it dude. Stop making stupid movies. Look at The Toxic Avenger. Great movie that got your company very popular. It seems to be all you have. The special features on your DVDs have a dude dressed up as Toxie 90% of the time. So what did you do with the greatest idea that has ever come out of your company? You make part 4. A fucking joke.

The movie you make now can be compared to Batman with nipples. You once made some cool shit but now you suck.

The last movie I watched was especially stupid. I figured out the "mystery" at the beginning of the story. That was dumb but what made it even worse was when you gave away what was going to happen in the story as you were narrating and then your like, oops, I guess I just gave away the story.

I make it a point to not turn off any movies because I plan on watching them all the way through. I have close to 6,000 movies. That was the second I ever stopped. You should feel honored. It takes a lot to get me to do that because I really don't want to ever do it.

The first one was Googoosh: Iran's Daughter. It's an almost 3 hour documentary one some lady. I didn't know who she was when I went into it other than a brief description. An hour in, I had even less of an idea about who she was and I shut it off because the show really got annoying. The director should be shot so he can never make another movie again. You are barely better than this man, Lloyd

3. Jess Franco, it's too late to make you change since you are going to die soon. You made some decent movies a long time ago. Then I watched other ones. You don't need long pauses after someone says something. We are not so retarded that it takes our brains that long to digest dialog. The pauses make me fall asleep.

If it's not the pauses making me sleep, it's your zooming and panning. If I were awake, I would see that a quarter of the movie is you zooming in on a leaf and then panning across more leaves.

Sometimes you start the scene already zoomed in on the leaf. You then have the option to zoom out or pan and then zoom out.

I watched you zoom into an oil lamp today. Then it zoomed out. Then it zoomed onto someones fast really fast. Then it zoomed out. Then it zoomed into someone else's face. Bravo good sir, you deserve a medal of honor.

I will commend you on the pacing of your films. It never changes. Unfortunately the pacing is the speed of someone walking through a tar pit.

Not at all! And thanks for the compliment. I'm tempted to switch back to movies, I can get through so many more that way, lol, but I'm gonna stick with TV shows this month, since I have so many of them to get through.

yeah, this summer is going to be busy and really going to kill my count. umpiring baseball and playing sofball 3 or 4 nights a week outside of the regular 8-5 is putting a damper on watching anything during the week.

plus i just got a nintendo wii! haha.

much, thanks
If nothing else, I'm helping the economy (if not my own personal economy) so that's not a bad thing....right?
anyway....yeah, tv sets are hurting me. I try to play video games on even numbered days and watch dvds on odd numbered days, so there's half the month gone there, and even knocking out one disk of a set doesn't let me cross anything off the list
Could be worse, I recall one thread where the guy said he has enough dvds to watch one disk every day for the next forty years or something....i'm down to only 54860 minutes of content to watch....that's only three years, at one hour a day...damn, I shouldn't have done that math.
dpz301: the wii has been my big competitor for time, esp. since I never had a gamecube, so now I've got a bunch of gamecube games to play.....oh well, I know I won't be compete with some of the power viewers, but if I can just improve on my own stats, I'll count that as a win. What I need to do is spend more time in the DVD Talk subforum, and a whole lot less in DVD Bargains.

I just picked up the huge MASH box set. All the seasons and the movie runs around 6,700 minutes which is over 4 days of continuous watching. If I wasn't going to split it up between the movie and each season counting as one, I would probably only get one watched for the entire month.

And of course, games suck. I bought Ultimate Marvel Alliance Thursday and played it a good part of Friday. Didn't even finish one that day. Then today we had a yard sale and I got into a game of Civ 3. When the sale was done I couldn't just stop in the middle of the world war against Egypt

Since last Monday I've only watched 4 which doesn't help with my goal to have some sort of gain for just one month. That should change next month when my wife goes to Japan for a month.

I'll also make a prediction. RobCA will beat all of us. In fact, he will finish with everything, leave the thread for a few months to build up his collection just so he can come back and beat us all again.

Mister Peepers, is that MAU for the 360? if so i'd love to play online sometime. I need to download that heroes and villians pack as well.

I also have the MASH set and I am counting it as one. One very long dvd.... I'm saving it for last.
