SNL 04/14/07 - (H) Shia LaBeouf (M) Avril Lavigne
I know most of you were pining for Scarlett*, but... we're getting the kid from Holes.
This summer he has Transformers... and next summer he's got Indiana Jones 4... and he's shown that he can be humorous (like on Even Stevens), so maybe this kid (yes, I still think of him as a kid) will do good this week.
... and money is on Avril singing her single "Girlfriend" and possibly that theme she did for Eragon ("Keep Holding On").
* Slated for 4/21 we have some good news and bad news:
Spoiler:
Oh, and on 4/28, they are repeating the Peyton Manning/Carrie Underwood ep.

I don't care much for Shia. There's something about him that's annoyingly pretentious.
And...why are you down on the musical guest for Scarlett's show? That's gonna be great. MUCH better than Avril LaVINE.

I think Shia LaBeouf is awesome and should do a great job tonight... I'm mostly tuning in for Avril though. A very decent combo for tonight and should draw in the youth demo.
All the people scratching their heads at who Shia LaBeof is have probably seen him in movies before, he just hasn't been a LEAD in anything major (which changes this weekend with Disturbia, and soon Transformers). He was in The Greatest Game Ever Played, I, Robot, Holes, Constantine, Project Greenlight Season 2 (and the subsequent movie) and the TV series Even Stevens. Should hopefully be a good SNL tonight.

I consider myself pretty up to date in mainstream pop culture, and I didn't even now who the host was until about 3 weeks ago. I'm guessing the majority of viewers that tune in tonight don't have a clue who he is.
It seems Shia is the new "it" actor in Hollywood right now. It wasn't that long ago Josh Harnett was the "it" actor and it seems like his career hasn't really taken off to the next level.

With this host and this musical guest, I don't think I'd mind one bit if 30 Rockefeller Plaza just so happened to implode upon itself sometime after 11:30 tonight.
