Borders Rewards Members Only 30% off one item when you spend $10 or more
I went to Borders yesterday and I was going to buy a Criterion DVD. I asked the guy at the counter if there were any deals going on and he said if I became a Borders member I could get 30% off my purchase and I was all over that. The membership is free to get and it is officially valid 12/14 through 12/18. The coupon also says one coupon per customer per day. Awesome way to get the new bond dvd's this week just pick up one each one of the days. Good Luck with your mileage on this one!!

The 30% coupons are common at Borders and are frequently posted on the forum. There was even a 40% off box set coupon posted last week (see link).

This is the first *legit* one in a while. Technically the one at visitborders.com should only be used once by any person.
This is the first in ages that is not once per valid period.
And if you go for Criterions or odd films or unusual ones that are not commonly stocked in stores (such as not-so-popular, but big studio) or foreign films, this is an excellent way to get more immediate acquisition of such titles.
I used to compare BB, WM, CC and amazon prices (occasionally even DDD) and find plennnnnnnnnty of deals. They're there. Enough that I went so many times with these coupons that I just ended up working there instead. So, yeah. Anyone convinced these are worthless is only looking at blah new releases :P

technically the valid period on that coupon is through 12/24, the one showing just changes.
Or, in another sense, there has never been a period it was NOT valid, thusly the valid period has yet to end, so re-use is technically multiple uses per valid period.
Technically.
Hence the asterisks.
(and yes these coupons will stack)

And stores may be happy for any and all business, but technically they were told not to be. So that's completely store-based.
I'm not saying you "can't" use it, or telling people not to. But this is not a technicality that "doesn't exist." It says one time use. If you're going to the same website for the same coupon that does the same thing and has the same barcode and number, and only changes the ending date (which I don't think anyone would contest is an EXTENSION, and not a brand new one)...that's the same coupon.
No one's going to be able to tell, and it's difficult to track (and they may or may not be concerned about it upstairs) but it remains true all the same...

This is a deal that produces physical coupons. It is not simply an extension of a "sale." If Borders mailed a "valid once per period" 30% off coupon to my house that expired 12/1 and then mailed a new 30% off coupon to my house that expired 12/15, do you honestly think that they would be in the right if they claimed I couldn't use the second coupon because I'd already used the first just because they chose to reuse the same barcode?

Thusly, the valid period for said coupon would have expired.

Thusly, the ability to make multiples is irrelevant to its nature as a continuous coupon.
Again, I'm not saying you are definitively wrong, or stop using them, or that if you feel it is justified that I am so completely right and you should know better or anything of the sort.
Just saying it seems odd to me that no one else thought of it that way, where it seems fairly logical to me.
Oh well.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, I promise! Just enjoying a little debate...
and arguing that I don't think that Borders would have any grounds to deny the use of a second coupon with a later expiration date because they've changed the "valid period" and this is a deal which REQUIRES printing a physical coupon, which, in turn, physically preserves record of the end of the valid period-- which is what I consider analogous between this situation and being mailed coupons as described above (and even E-MAILED reprintable ones).
That all said, this discussion has also made me aware of the fact that I think that this is the only recent Borders coupon to use this "One coupon per customer during the valid period" language without having the period clearly defined on the top of the coupon in obvious print.
Perhaps this is just a case of thoughtless or awkward copying/pasting/modifying like the Tropicana lemonade bottles that say "made with not from concentrate."

They assume people will see "one time use" and never go back.
Though, they've previously sort of suggested they're aware of how these things go around, so I can't be sure.
But, in any case, my point is sort of, "I think they didn't MEAN for it to be re-usable, but it's pretty justified to say it seems you should be able to."
(I wasn't picking a fight either, I just see the coupon constantly dropped in any thread...and it seemed like some serious use, but whatever)
