I might be interested in a few of them...the Free Willy movies for my son. The Chuck Norris, Murder flicks and Poison Ivy series would be the ones I'd get.

I wonder what this means for the proposed "Dark City: Director's Cut," that Roger Ebert recorded a commentary track for.

I'm curious about how these are packaged. Is this a triple feature on a single disc, or are these 2-disc sets? Do they retail any/all extras from previous releases, or are they bare-bones? Etc.

I saw most of these triple features today at Wal-Mart and picked up the Lethal Weapon set. To anwers some of the questions above:

1. The 3 films come in 2 DVDs. The first 2 films are on flipper discs (Disc 1 Side A Lethal Weapon 1, Side B, Lethal Weapon 2 and Disc 2 Lethal Weapon 3. Disc 2 even has a Disc art.)
2. The Lethal Weapon set are the director's cut edition and are widescreen.
3. I saw the Poison Ivy set and they are the unrated versions but full screen editions of the 3 films.

I don't know about the other sets, but everyone should read carefully the specs before making their purchase.

The sets go at Wal-Mart for $9.59

Question: why does ANYONE want these? They're clearly all single layered discs and the quality will definitely suffer.

Thanks for the

As for me, I like the 3 Lethal Weapon films and Dark City. Frequency and Thirteen Days are pretty good too.

They are single layered? Where's this coming from?

I'm assuming they're DVD-10s. You know: dual-sided, single-layered.

If it's just the films on the discs with no extras, I don't see the quality suffering that much. For all we know, some of the discs could indeed be DVD-14 or DVD-18; but I wouldn't expect that much from what seems to be bargin-bin releases. I'm a little bit upset that the Poision Ivy set is full screen only as that was the only set I had in mind to purchase, but I'm curious to see how the other New Line sets will be. Their previous double-feature discs were full frame only, but 15 Minutes, Frequency, ad Thirteen Days were Platinum Series or Infinifilm discs. Hell, the original Boiler Room disc was dual-layered and that had no video extras besides some deleted scenes and the trailer.

Duh.

Do you expect them to be dual-sided, dual layered??

This is just WB's way of sending out cheapo versions.

I have a question about the Lethal Weapon set. Is it the correct OAR, It says on the back of the package its 1.85:1, but I swear they are all 2.35:1.

you are incorrect my friend. All discs are dual layered, according to the specs on the back of the DVD case.

1.85:1 is the correct aspect ratio. The imdb verifies it:

This may not be the end of the world as I believe that all three FS releases were open matte.

That's an easy question. They're cheap, and the majority of people buying these won't notice/care about the quality.

Absolutely nothing. They aren't going to scrap an SE in favor of a cheap re-release.
