Extremely YMMV - local Walmart has Tru Calling & some other series for $20 each

My local Walmart, which is in Houston in the Webster/Clear Lake area (on I-45 and El Dorado) had Tru calling season one for $20. They had a whole rack of DVD sets for $20 - I did not write them all down, but from what I can recall, they had Cheers, seasons 1&2, Frasier 1&2, NYPD Blue, Mash 1&2, and early seasons of Will & Grace and the 70's show.

I bought Tru calling. I did not price check the other series, but from what I could see, it looked they were all $20 each.

They did NOT have the recent Buffy sale reported in another thread - the new Buffy slim-packs are $30 each.

I saw this Tuesday. It may be last a while. I use to work in electronics and was talking to my co-workers on Tuesday, and they said the movie mod had just changed, so it may be part of that. if thats the case, a mode can last around 3 months.

When Wal-Mart completes a mod for movies/games it's usually done in one night. They prep for maybe 2 days, but the moving of old movies to new spots and the deletions are all taken care of usually overnight and done. All of the deletions are then sent out through the claims department back to the studios.

yeah we always did our during the day, over around 3 days

And when i said it last three months, i meant that thats how long they sell these particular movies, not that it takes that long to complete.

I saw Married with Children S4 at Walmart also. Better than DDD even with the 20%.

Some of these prices can be beat right now with the DDD 20% off sale. The ones I checked were Frazier S2, Grey's Anatomy S1 and Night Court S1. Hill Street Blues S1 was less expensive at Wal-Mart. I didn't check any of the others.

Don't know, haven't been to either for a couple weeks. Will probably take a look today though. BTW, the two Manassas stores didn't have a special display up, they had them on the end cap in the electronics dept by the TVs.

GMAN - Thanks for the update on ManASSASS. It's hard to get psyched about driving out there when the Fair Lakes location is down the street...

Great. Right when I want to take a break from buying DVDs, this comes up with some titles that I'd really like to get.

All Wal-Marts in my local area have this deal. There was a rep from whoever Wal-Mart buys from in the store I happened to be at yesterday. They were out of 70's s3, I asked if they would be getting more in, he said absolutley they will be restocking this rack.

My guess is Wal-Mart is trying to compete with the many B1G1 and other deals out there.
