Best DTS vs. DD dvd audio tracks
I did do a search for this info but came up empty. Anyway, I just got, (finally),a DTS receiver and am looking for some reccomendations of the best titles with audibly better sounding DTS tracks than their DD counterparts for comparison.
thank you,

Anything with DTS-ES that does NOT have DD-EX, like Gladiator. Many of the movies mentioned in threads like these are not really any better, people just assume DTS is better since that is the going theory on the internet.
The LOTR:EE (esp FOTR) are more appropriately mixed in DTS than DD.

Definitely Saving Private Ryan.
Jurassic Park. Pearl Harbor. The Fast and the Furious. The Day After Tomorrow. The Bourne Identity (collector's edition). Top Gun. The Mummy. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre '03. Air Force One (Superbit). Alien vs. Predator

You're excused.
Well, since you seem to want me to spell it out for you. Your post is a blatant thread crap and against forum rules. The O.P. isn't asking for opinions on the merits of DTS versus DD (Lord knows there are enough of those threads over the years) but was asking for suggestions as to DVDs to consider.
Where upon you thread fart by saying that there are none. Good work.
The diminishing returns comment refers to you bragging about your 7.1 setup.
Clear?

These threads always seem to go one of two ways: (1) They devolve into a debate over DD vs. DTS, as it's threatening to do now--no matter how many caveats are posted. (2) Or virtually every DVD ever released in the asked-about format is cited as being "the best"--I think we're up to 18 so far--which it was threatening to do before No. 1.
I'm surprised so many people have responded after steebo's post, which seemed to merit a lock. How many times can these best-of inquiries be rehashed?

Oh yeah, I also thought Chicken Run and James and the Giant Peach sounded better in DTS (both are on the same DVD as their DD 5.1 counterparts).

MOD NOTE: spartanstew & ctyankee BOTH of you need to cool it now or this thread is destined to get locked.
spartanstew since the original topic was looking for recommendations on movies and was not meant as a discussion on DTS v DD your post could be viewed as a
(for the record I don't agree that it is but I see where others could view it that way) however that also doesn't excuse "responding in kind" in your later posts.
ctyankee the appropriate response to a
is to use the RTP button (the
icon in the lower left hand corner) and NOT exacerbate the situation like your first response post did.
Thanks

You must not be familiar with DPLIIx. IIx takes a 5.1 source and turns it into a 7.1 source without affecting the original 5.1 channels. Essentially the same thing as EX, but with 2 rear channels instead of only one. You may not be aware that EX decoding uses DPLII technology on 5.1 sources. IIx is sort of a combo upgrade to both the Digital and Pro Logic lines.
