How many of you would buy Ridley Scott's 1492: Conquest of Paradise on dvd
If it were to ever be released as a region 1 title on dvd in 16x9 anamorphic widescreen, be it directors cut or a barebones catalogue title. This thread is to see just how many people would actually buy it if paramount home video released it on dvd. Should be interesting to see how many dvdtalk users would want to purchase it, even as a blind buy.
Obviously, yes, I would buy it!
(any version as long as it's anamorphic widescreen and the transfer is acceptable).

No way I would be interested in spending any money to buy this, or my time watching any of it again.

It's no worse or better than Gladiator, IMHO. It should be on DVD - it's not that bad of a film, and it has some nice visuals in it.

I thought this had already been announced a while back, and I think I even made a comment about it in a post as I was surprised it was finally being released. Did something fall through, or am I mistaken?

Rented on vhs a few months back, and would have to say no it just didn't do it for me and historical time piece movies are probally my favorite.

I liked the movie: it's not Black Hawk Down or Blade Runner, but it's not Gigli either! Give it a solid B or 2 1/2 stars. I would buy it provided it is a decent transfer, OAR, anamorphic, Dolby 5.1 or equivalent minimum. Director's commentary, deleted scenes, and an isolated music track (great Vangelis score!) would cinch the deal.

Surprisingly, I'm finding this movie hard to track down on VHS for rent. I went to Cinefile Video here in LA, with no luck (though it could have just been out). Still, if it were available on DVD, then it would be easier to finally see. One of the very few Ridley Scott films I have yet to see.
Besides, if (insert crappy movie title here) can get a DVD release, why not an epic Ridley Scott film?

Since it has taken forever for this to be released on region 1, there is an alternative if you want to buy it that bad. The region free, 1492: A Conquista Do Paraiso (1492: Conquest Of Paradise) is available on amazon.com, these are actual pictures of the product.

It's worth it, since the transfer is anamorphic, if you are a Ridley Scott fan or dvd completist, until the region 1 is released, with all the extras on it, this may help ease your 1492: Conquest Of Paradise craving.
