What Warner Bros Classics are next for the remastering treatment??

What classic "oldies" titles are Warner Bros planninng to entertain us with after the release of The Gangsters set with Cagney et al? I'm hoping to see Special Edition sets of Whatever Happened To Baby Jane, Mame, a Busby Berkeley set, the Bette Davis classics etc.

Hopefully someone out there can let us know what other titles Warner are planning?

I believe a second noir box set is also on the way. Too lazy to find source, so don't quote me on that...

A SECOND noir box? I really hope it includes Double Indemity.

As for others:

Rebel Without a Cause tops my list.

Double Indemnity is owned by Universal, not Warner Bros. A special edition of Rebel Without a Cause is in the works.

The next Technicolor film to get the Ultra Resolution treatment is Easter Parade, which will no doubt be released around... Easter.

My wish:

Jazz Singer - 1927
East of Eden - 1955 (Kazan)
King Kong - 1933
Ninotchka - 1939 (Lubitsch)
Big parade - 1925 (From MGM, so I guess they have the rights)

There's no allegedly about the Flynn set, although the release date might be what you were referring to. Warner has definitely been working on the Flynn films. In fact, when the studio managed to track down Olivia de Havilland for the Gone With The Wind SE, the producers also got her to provide some anecdotes about her work with Flynn for that planned set.

Warner is also working on Kings Row.

Chalk up another vote for Whatever Happened to Baby Jane!

Check out this link; they're creating a new digital restoration of it.

I really doubt it'll be a remaster. Instead, I predict they'll use the same transfer used on the 16x9 re-issue, but re-encode it better (it apparently had some very small instances of edge enhancement). Plus, extras will be added.

This is what was done for My Fair Lady, which already had a beautiful 16x9 master... but the SE featured much better encoding, which got rid of some noise and ringing on the original 1-disc DVD.

Thanks and REALLY THANKS!!!!! Universal with Double Indemnity fears me much but a SE of Rebel makes up for it.

Would it be too much to ask for a 16x9 redo of 2010 alongside it?

Any date for the Busby Berkeley Boxset yet?

Hello Again folks, at the risk of yet again being an obsessive bore on the subject (!!) when, if ever, is the long vaunted Busby Berkeley boxset, going to appear on DVD?

There was a nice compilation available on Laserdisc some years back, which I'm surprised has as yet never appeared on DVD, but a combination of best musical sequences plus the complete movies would be very nice to have on DVD.

However,I guess, these days Warner Bros are such perfectionists, that the remastering would need to be redone for reproduction on modern Hi DefinitionTV's and 5.1 Digital sound systems!!

Has anyone out there heard of plans for this Busby Berkeley set?
