I seriously doubt this one will be anything better than your average movie on skinemax.

Oh goody. Sharon Stone past her prime in a sequel that is about ten years past its time to be even a contender for a hit, not to mention a total hack of a director at the helm.
I will say right now that I will most likely file this away with Blues Brothers 2000, Jaws 2 thru 4, and Aliens 3 & 4 as sequels that "never happened" as far as I'm concerned.

But anyway...like just about everyone else, I predict the sequel will probably blow pretty hard. I seriously doubt the male lead will be older than Sharon this time, and he'll probably be an unknown, cast mainly for his looks and not his talent (hopefully i'm wrong). As for Sharon, she hasn't gotten flabby or overly-wrinkled in her 40s, but she just isn't as sexy or appealing as she was 10 or so years ago. Her spiky haircuts and abrasive personality in interviews may have something to do with it. Sometimes she comes across as intelligent and funny...other times she's just arrogant and annoying. But I've always thought she was a good actress, and really liked her character in the original, so if the script's decent I think she can make it work. I'll probably give this one a rent whenever it comes out....it could end up a guilty pleasure.

I remember years back, David Cronenberg was seriously close to directing a Basic Instinct 2. It was brought up again in some interview a few years back, and he expressed a bit of regret for not actualy doing it, claiming the script was of high quality, much more intelligent then the original.

Put me in the camp that enjoyed the first film. I thought it was great noir. Unfortunately, my dislike for Sharon Stone as she has gone slightly mad over the last several years will probably prevent me from seeing the film in theaters (unless it gets good word of mouth). I just have a feeling its going to be plotless with raunchy sex scenes and then a Shyamalan twist at the end to try and make the movie respectable. The twist at the end of the first film was just one piece of a good film.

I thought Stone looked very good in Cold Creek Manor, yes older, but
still a nice older, plus a good actress, they should of done the sequel a long time ago, but not everything is about youth, we all gotta grow old.

If Cronenberg directed this years ago. I would have really been interested in checking it out.
But today? Not interested, since it seems way past it's prime. Especially with a questionable director at the helm, and who knows what the script is like?
Are they using the one originally thought of years ago(which we stll don't know what it contained) or have they thought of something different?
The original on the other hand is a great fun adult thriller. Well made, amusing, erotic, noirish fun.

I still remember that opening night theater experience for this one. A star was born in Stone, the audience was riveted once she flashed the bush, and there was a great laugh at the line when Douglas calls Roxy "Rocky".
