2-disc Dr. Strangelove in the works

digitalbits is reporting Columbia is working on a new 2-disc set 40th Anniversary Edition of Dr. Strangelove. No word yet what's on it. And also Warner is working on a 2-disc 2001: A Space Odyssey. So good news for Kubrick fans!

dvdpricesearch has a listing for it but so far only buy.com is listed http://www.buy.com//retail/product.a...246&dcaid=1688 (I have few stores filtered out though so others may actually have it too)

Maybe I'll finally pick this movie up, with this 2-disc.

This is a no-brainer double dip for me. Definately one of the best films of all time.

Less of a no-brainer since it's a triple dip for me.

Somehow I never seemed to pick this one up on DVD, so it's a new-dip for me! (well, ok - double-dip if you consider that I bought it on VHS years ago!)

2005 will mark the 25th Anniversary of another Kubrick film - The Shining. Think they'll do something with that, or wait until the 30th Annniversary?

Can't wait for Dr. Strangelove. Loved it right from the get-go.

I be getting the 2-disc 2001: A Space Odyssey. I'm quite content with my current 1-disc Dr. Strangelove.

It came out in 1980, so a 25th Anniversary would be more appropiate.

The Shining was released in 1980, next year will be the 25th anniversary.

The only thing about the 2-disc releases is that they will be in keep cases, which is a good thing, but I couldnt just replace the ones in the Kubrick set as they wouldnt fit in the box (unless I got rid of Life in Pictures

Maybe we'll get the widescreen version of the Shining finally (even though Kubrik wanted fullscreen)?

ANOTHER special edition for Dr. Strangelove? This would be my third time purchasing this, and my third time buying 2001. Enough is enough, seriously! I think I might just pass on these on principle alone.

I'd be interested to know what's on the 2-disc Dr. Strangelove, but the current special edition is pretty good as is.

Likewise. Held off due to TCM's occasional showings. Glad I did.

Wait, I'm confused; I thought the Superbit was going to be a two-disc with exclusive/new extras ... now there's going to be a seperate two-disc right after it?

ARGH!!!!!

Ah well, keep us all posted as to what will be on these new discs, so that we can purchase informedly.
