Couldn't find anything about this in the HD thread, so going to ask here. I pre-ordered the 4KUHD (not the steel book) off Amazon about three weeks ago and it still says December 5th as the estimated delivery date. I know it's street date is July 8th, so I'm guessing they're still using a temporary holder?

My Steelbook order from Amazon shows Arriving Tues July 8th.

If you bring up the Amazon listing for the regular 4K it says July 8th.

Finally saw this and loved it. I've been listening to various Black Podcasts breaking the film down. There's is so much that one can miss if they don't know history. RC did his homework for this film.

I love a good podcast and I love a good breakdown. Please share which ones you liked. I wouldn't mind giving them a listen before the 4K shows up on my doorstep.

I just watched this on MAX. It was a lot of fun.

I didn't mind the length. I actually wouldn't have minded if the siege at the end was a bit longer. Could have played up the horror aspects even more. I did think there were some clumsy edits during that section, though.

That was kind of awesome. And that scene earlier when Sammie is playing and we're taken on a journey through time was really cool.

When you watch it a second time, you'll have no trouble telling Smoke from Stack. MBJ does a good job playing the two roles distinctly and the costuming also helps a lot.

I enjoyed this, wasn't sure how they would marry the two worlds, but it works really well. And yeah, there were some weird edits here and there.
Seemed open for a sequel... as I'm curious about the Choctaw and their hunt (what they know about vampires, etc.). And then, of course, the years Stack and Mary had before confronting Sammie in his old age.

Coogler was initially against a sequel before the movie's release and for a few weeks after its success. A recent interview he did at the premiere of Ironheart, which he exec produced, indicated that he wasn't exactly for it, but he isn't ruling it out either. He's made a career out of doing IPs and wants Sinners to be its own thing, but he also doesn't want to close the door on the possibility entirely.

Well, he has a unique deal with Sinners on owning the rights to some degree (been awhile since I read about it) so not making a sequel(s) is a cash cow he'd be passing on(whether he's involved or not). Personally, I hope he stands strong and leaves it be. One and done.

He gets the full ownership rights in about 25 years when he's pushing 65. And I'm sure he will still be making movies then.

That was a brilliant piece of filmmaking. So beautifully done.

I loved this movie. It blended themes really well, the actors were all great in their roles, and the visuals were seamless.

I didn’t know people still buy physical media.

I don't buy many anymore but wasn't passing up Sinners.

i don't know if you're being serious or facetious? Physical isn't dead. Just the options are getting a little more limited.

But, for for big mainstream movies like Sinners, your only options are online as basically there are really no brick and mortar stores that sell them anymore. I think Walmart might be the only option left.

I bought two Blu-ray discs this year, the Vinegar Synrome edition of Dirty Work (with the "Lost Cut") and Akira 4k. I've done my part

I loved this overall, but still found myself nitpicking some things. I feel like the brother's plans/efforts should've spanned more than a day. I think it would've felt more organic and increased the emotional stakes if they'd shown back up to town and it took several weeks for them to pull everything together. I also felt like the climatic fight missed the mark a bit. There'd been some effort to establish the menace of the vampires, but then regular people outnumbered by more than 10-to-1 were able to hold them off pretty effectively. I think it would've been better if the odds had been stacked in the opposite direction. Lastly, I was really irritated by such an important scene being after the credits started. Or more accurately, I was irritated that Max treated the beginning of credits as the end. My wife and I didn't have the chance to see this in the theater, so we were watching it for the first time this weekend. When the credits started, Max switched to the picture-in-picture view as if it were over and we turned it off. Someone later mentioned the additional scene to us, so we went back and watched it a couple days later.

Anyway, those are minor gripes that take it from a 10 to a 9 for me. It was brilliantly conceived and executed on most fronts. It's pretty rare that I pick up the disc for a new release that's already available to stream, but I'll be snagging the 4K of this.
