Wouldn't it make sense to release the same quantity units for each volume. Or is it that somehow, someone decided he/she wants to buy out plenty of volume 5?

And why would fans buy more units of volume 5 over the other volumes? to throw off the unit quantity available? Wouldn't it make more sense for the availability of *all* volumes to dwindle at the same rate (plus or minus units due to defective disc)?
With series like this you release fewer copies of each volume as you go along. If you produce 10,000 copies of volume 1, assuming it is a perfect market and their will be no excess supply/demand. Not every person is going to want volume 2. Now companies would have market research data so that they can best guestimate how many copies to produce as series drag along. If their data says that 80% of vol. 1 purchasers will continue with the series, then you would want to produce 8,000, again assuming it is a perfect supply/demand.
If 90% of volume 2 buyers continue with the series then 7,200 of vol. 3 are produced, etc.

If you produce 10,000 of each disc, you can see that over time each volume would continue to sell fewer copies and there would be excess volumes sitting in storage, which loses you money.

Valid point. I decided to render a response in the official anime discussion thread. I forgot that this was a thread devoted specifically to bargains.

I would like to see your/a response to my post. The following quote is from the "anime official discussion" thread.

SDZeroG, you make a valid point. It's understandable but if that's the case, wouldn't units of volume 6 be even *more* limited. Why would volume 6 (Fate/Stay Night) be more abundant than 5. With the business model theory, wouldn't the availability of vol. 6 be lower than vol. 5.

Another example is Basilisk. There is a total of six volumes. Currently, volume 3 and 4 "limited edition (LE)" versions are supposedly hard to come by while the LE volume 5 and 6 are relatively, easily accesible.

I will remove the coupon codes later today when I do some updating. I still see plenty of used anime dvd titles at eStarland.com (330 pages worth).

My local FYE still has the 2 disc steel case version for $19.99. If you're a Backstage member, then it would be $17.99 plus tax. The next Animania Day is January 27(Buy 1, Get 1 at 50% off). If you can find another $20 title, then it would only be $10 on that day.

Might also want to see if they have the $10 GC promotion. They had it the day I was there go get Vol 2 and 3, but had a heck of a time entering into their system and had to hack it somehow..

I wish I picked up vol 1 at Bestbuy while it was there to complete the single steelbook series..

Later

The listing was removed sometime this morning. It could have been removed at around the time when the Viz sale was posted.

Meh, it'd probably be worth waiting on Death Note, they screwed up video on the first two volumes pretty badly. Hopefully a boxset will warrant a fix.

Should I have ordered the 2-Disc Neon Evangelion Rebirth/Death set from DD (now OOS) or the two separate release Director's Cuts on Rightstuf's website.

It depends what you're looking to watch. I have included some excerpts from AnimeOnDVD below. It may help you decide which one to get.

Neon Genesis Rebirth/Death Set (from Manga Entertainment) includes:

I got a question regarding manga... I just bought my first English translated manga and realized that the cover is in back, not front.... Then I looked inside and got little confused.

Do I read the book "backward" - Japanese style?

Awesome! Time to get Rozen Maiden and When They Cry before they go bye-bye. Thanks.
