Number 1 has to be David Hasselhoff's "Hooked on a Feeling". The link to the video is down right now, but here is a link to stills.

5. Bjork: "Joga" (I used to be a geologist, so I loved this one)
4. Peter Gabriel: "Sledgehammer" (Nick Park was involved in this one: he animated the dancing chickens)
3. Queens of the Stone Age: "Go With the Flow" (kick ass visuals and a great song)
2. Beastie Boys: "Shadrach" (ridiculously cool oil-painting animation, the multi-angle version on the CC set is one of the greatest things ever on DVD)
1. Prodigy: "Smack My Bitch Up" ( the best video ever, IMO, and it was banned here in the US)
4. Peter Gabriel: "Sledgehammer" (Nick Park was involved in this one: he animated the dancing chickens)
3. Queens of the Stone Age: "Go With the Flow" (kick ass visuals and a great song)

A lot of the mainstream artist videos are crap. I like Reznor's stuff, and some of the others. But normally, videos now a days are just the singer dancing and singing. My, how creative. A lot of the country videos (which there doesn't seem to be many country fans on here) are decently creative... Toby Keith comes to mind. His are pretty funny.
Wasn't a big fan of Prodigy, but have to admit the video for "Smack my Bitch up" was pretty cool.
David Hasselhoff ->

I haven't kept up in recent years, er, decades, but two of my favorites were "Vienna" by Ultravox and "I Don't Remember" by Peter Gabriel. And if it counts as a video, "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan (probably the most copiesd video in history).

I'm not a big fan of Radiohead, but they've got some pretty good videos.
The best, however, would have to be Jennifer Lopez' "Taco Flavored Kisses": http://images.southparkstudios.com/m...oredkisses.mov

Wendersfan - A lot of Gabriel's stuff were creative. And I remember that one by Ultravox, though I liked their video for "Reap the Wild Wind" a little better.
I don't remember too many early Dylan videos, but with his creative mind, I'm sure he was able to come up with some good ones.

The reason I don't think of it as a "video" is because it was originally part of D.A. Pennebaker's film Don't Look Back.

Yeah, I think have seen that one. Because then INXS kind of stole the idea for "Mediate" at the end of "Need You Tonight"

I won't mention any of the excellent choices already mentioned. I will point out, though, that it takes more than just beauty to make a video good: in my opinion, it has to be watchable over and over. The ones I'm listing may not be the technically or aesthetically best, but they're five of my faves.
No particular order:
1. Outside of America, Michael Jackson's video for "Smooth Criminal" consisted of that scene taken straight from Moonwalker.
Jackson's videos were always good, but I did like that one a bit more than the others.
B. Gorillaz - "Clint Eastwood". I've got this vid on CD-Roma AND two DVDs - didn't plan it that way, but I don't complain when it comes on.
It has excellent animation, it's very fun, and begins with a Dawn Of The Dead quote - what's not to like?
III. I hate to pick two animated videos in a row, but U2's "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" is fabulous.
It edges out "Faraway, So Close" by just a tad.
- - No-one's mentioned "Buddy Holly" by Weezer yet?
Amazing!
e. Of course...
"Clearly I remember, picking on the boy..."
Such a disturbing video.
Wow, I picked five videos that had nothing to do with Romanek, Gondry or Fincher. Oh wait, I have a Jonze. Ah well.
