I'd ask the HD forum. Your post will spark debate that will go on for pages. Some are hard core HD or BR, others are neutral and then there are many who want to stay out of it until there is a clear winner.

If price is not an issue(HD-DVD is cheaper at the moment) then I would suggest just picking the format that has the most films you are interested in owning. Sony and Disney are exclusive to BR and Universal and Paramount are exclusive to HD-DVD...those are the two largest exclusive studios on either side. Either way, enjoy your movies in High Def, I'm certainly glad I made the jump.

HD DVD and Blu-ray are two (incompatible) high definition movie formats. The short answer is that they're essentially the same (in terms of picture/sound experience), but they have different prices and different studios supporting them.

My (totally biased) answer to your question is to go with HD DVD. The price is much better (brand new machines are in the $200 range, with some hitting ~$150 during the holidays) and the quality and title selection is fantastic.
