That's too bad. I was never a big Premiere fan...I liked their movie preview issues, but outside of them, unless the cover was amazing, I usually skipped it... I'm an EW person all the way (because I love movies, music, tv and books)... I feel for you premiere fans...but I tell you, if EW ever stops publishing it'll be like losing a friend...I've had my subscription to EW since I was like 15.

A shame about Premiere -- I've read it on and off and had a current subscription.

Another
for EMPIRE. Yes, it's pricey but find someone else who would read it and split the cost.

Maxim at the Movies died quite quickly, the few issues were a test of the market and I guess they found it inhospitable - a shame because the few issues I saw did have potential.
And another thumbs up for EMPIRE, which I get regularly down here in NZ - very good magazine, much better than Premiere imho.

Dreamwatch just folded too. This really sucks. Online information is one thing, but I can't take an online mag into the bathroom with me or take it to work to read on my lunch break. Premiere was one of the few entertainment magazines that had the most bang for it's buck too...I often read many of the articles/reviews in each issue.
The only reason I hadn't yet subscribed is because I am lazy about paying my bills for that stuff and always get in trouble with collection agencies (I know, that's REALLY lazy!) so I put it off knowing my track record. Now I am glad I didn't get a subscription.

That really sucks. I just started getting it a couple months ago too. I get a whole stack of magazines every month and Premiere gets by far the most time. I've been reading them nearly cover to cover.

I read it from issue 1 through the first 10 years. I agree, Premiere got more Star oriented and less film oriented. Plus the internet makes it obsolete.
I'm still mourning the old version of Cinefantastique with its 20 page in-depth and sidebar infested articles. If it was something you were interested in, it was a godsend.

very sad news. I was a reader of Premiere from the very first issue which featured tom hanks and dan aykroyd on the cover (for dragnet). now I have to get by on just my EW sub.

I received a little card in the mail from Premiere Magazine today and it says:
The April 2007 Issue was the last issue published of Premiere Magazine. Were are pleased to inform you that you will receive Us Weekly for the remaining portion of your subscription. You will receive one issue of Us Weekly for every paid issue remaining in your premiere subscription.

Same here. Urgh. Us Weekly! Couldn't they have picked something halfway readable?

Just got the postcard in the mail today. I was paid up through May of 2009, so the postcard said I could expect that number of US Weekly issues....
Oh, boy! I can see who is dating who, who wore that great dress on the red carpet, who is expecting a baby and who may be the baby's daddy, and who broke up with someonw.... and other useless crap that has nothing to do with my appreciation of film.
I started my subscription my freshman year of college in 1987, after picking up the first issue in my school's bookstore. Kept a continious subscription for the past 20 years. And loved every issue. Formats and layouts changed, particular columns that I loved bit the dust (Shot by Shot especially), but I always looked forward to finding it in my mailbox. Cross-country moves, flush or broke, I always had the funds to renew my subscription.
Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement? I have sampled Entermainment Weekly and found it underwhelming....
Oh, and I called US Weekly and said I didn't want any of their mags stinking up my mailbox, so I'm getting a refund check in the mail for my remaining 22 issues.

This came out of left field for me when I received the card. I've been a subscriber for about 15 years and didn't see this coming. That's 2 surprises now (FHM also ceased publishing). Premiere always changed their magazine format thru the years. US weekly used to be a good movie mag 10 years ago back when they were still called US Magazine and the articles were all movie related.
